http://themoderatevoice.com/99850/republicans-in-congress-want-to-redefine-rape/
For years, federal laws restricting the use of government funds to pay for abortions have included exemptions for pregnancies resulting from rape or incest, with another exemption covering pregnancies that could endanger the life of the mother. But the “No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act,” contains a provision that would rewrite the rules to drastically limit the definition of rape and incest in these cases. The bill, with 173 mostly Republican co-sponsors, has been dubbed a top priority in the new Congress by House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio). With this legislation, which was introduced last week by Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.), Republicans propose that the rape exemption be limited to “forcible rape.” This would rule out federal assistance for abortions in many rape cases, including instances of statutory rape, many of which are non-forcible. For example, if a 13-year-old girl is impregnated by a 24-year-old adult, she would no longer qualify to have Medicaid pay for an abortion. Rep. Smith’s spokesman did not respond to a call and an email requesting comment. Given that the bill would also forbid the use of tax benefits to pay for abortions, that 13-year-old’s parents would also not be allowed to use money from a tax-exempt health savings account (HSA) to pay for the procedure. They also wouldn’t be able to deduct the cost of the abortion or the cost of any insurance that paid for it as a medical expense. Why would anyone even come up with this bill?
this new law is still like in beta and not out yet right RIGHT.?/!
I'm starting to think the republicans are more about theatrics and publicity stunts than getting actual shit done.
Never seen coverage of this bill on FOX news, wonder why.
my friend was raped and attacked :frown: by this stupid fucker's logic she wasn't raped
I'm starting to think the republicans are more about theatrics and publicity stunts than getting actual shit done.
Hasn't been the first time. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Federal_government_shutdown_of_1995
America, your country is full of fucking retards. I'm sorry it had to be said.
Every country has them.

That's horrible or is it, :q:
Up next we'll stone them to death for adultery when they are raped! *sigh* Fuck off right wing. Go fucking die.
That's fucking retarded logic.
I'm American and I agree with this statement
It's not that we are full of retards per-say, It's just that our retards are very loud, and us normal respectable folk don't have the time to deal with them BECAUSE WE HAVE SHIT TO DO.
Why would anyone even come up with this bill?
It has to do with abortions being performed in statutory rape cases. just to clarify I don't support it obviously..just explaining why someone came up with this bill. Republicans want to prevent abortions, since when is this new?
What the fuck
The majority of this bill (99%, don't get me wrong here) is fucking retarded, but they do make a point about those 15-16 year old girls with "issues" or something that get pregnant after willingly fucking some 20-something year old guy and getting pregnant. I don't see why the taxpayers should suffer for their fuck ups, just because of a technicality. But other than that, WHY REPUBLICANS, WHY ARE YOU SO STUPID! /c
According to this law pedophiles can get away with it :sigh:
[img_thumb]http://27.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lfv7rc0PWl1qzb77do1_500.png[/img_thumb]
Is that simply to show the amount of men involved? If you look closely there are quite a few women on there. Regardless that's a ridiculous amount of support.
Stupid democracy. This is what happens given time. The damn politician bourgeoisie only care about themselves and not about people.
It would be a huge joke if this passes.
Stupid democracy. This is what happens given time. The damn politician bourgeoisie only care about themselves and not about people.
yeah lets become communists
yeah lets become communists
No, the communists only care about the poor and even then their system of government doesn't work.
Idiots think congress and the president will sign this?
Man for some reason I thought you got perma'd HV. [editline]3rd February 2011[/editline] That said, this bill is fucking stupid.
Here in the UK abortion is free on the NHS and therefore available to all, abortion isn't only available to those who have money. Sure some people may not like that their taxes fund abortion, but maybe I don't want to fund some things that our taxes go towards either. We can't pick and choose where our taxes go. Also, rape is rape, whether there be obvious violence or not. Does date-rape count as forcible rape? God damn it America.
