• On a shitty connection...need to increase download speed :(

Hi there,I had just recently reformatted my PC after I finished uploading the files I needed to backup.for some reason,my ISP(also my cable service provider and telephone service provider)-as I think it is their fault-had cut the connection to my internet :bang: and my TV seem likes its barely connected to the cable even though the cable is completely fine(I checked)and luckily the computer I'm on is wireless(wireless is da shit :roflolmao: )and someone has an unsecured connection named "linksys" which for some reason has been there for years :buddy: but it is really shitty. it does at 1 megabit per second(128kb/s) :ssj: :suicide: and I really need to download the 3 gigs of stuff(unconverted youtube videos, music, zip files containing programs like virtual dub etc...)so does anybody have a suggestion to what I should do?like a download speed enhancer or w/e like which one is the best? (please no let me google that for you its easy to search but hard to find lol) (and sorry for the improper use of emotes if there was any LOL :fuckyou: ) Thanks, Athrun
128 kb/s is not a megabit quit using emotes we can not magically increase your internet connection speed
You don't come here often, do you?
I don't post that much........I only come here to see whats going on then I move on to a different part of the forums like the garrys mod section or the oify and that.
if you're torrenting turn it off
What you do is this: 1) Take your cellular phone. Do not use a house phone, they simply do not work, because it is a different mechanism. So far 'flip open' phones have proven to be the most successful. 2) Find a spare ethernet cable. The longer, the better. Blue ones work fine, but I would pick up an orange one if possible, the color indicates that the wires have been chrome-plated, which aids tremendously in the transfer of electrons along the cable. I've found 25%-30% better results with orange ethernet cables. 3) Get a salad bowl. It must be a salad bowl, and as close as possible to 2 feet in diameter as you can find. Any smaller and it won't catch the signal. And larger and the signal will bounce around for too long. 4) Cover the salad bowl opening with a single sheet of aluminum foil. Do not cover the inside of the salad bowl, simply lay the sheet over and crimp the excess over the edge of the bowl for a solid fit. If you have extra-thin aluminum foil (More than 20 square feet total foil), then you may want to put two or more sheets on top. 5) Wrap your ethernet cable around your cell phone. Make sure it's as tight as you can make it. If it is a flip-open phone, leave it open when wrapping the cable. The phone does not recieve 3G signals if it is closed, only 2G or 1G. Make sure that after wrapping the cable around the phone, it has 2-4 feet of extra wire to be able to plug it in to your PC. 6) Place the wrapped phone on top of the aluminum foil covering the salad bowl, dead center. If it is not in the center, it will not recieve the signals bounced from the salad bowl necessary for this to work. 7) Plug the trailing end of the ethernet cable in to your PC, and you should be getting a better signal from that 'linksis' connection you see, as well as many other signals in a much broader area around your home. Turn the phone on and leave it on; It cannot get the signals if it is off. It must stay on for this to work correctly. From this trick I've gone from about 200 kb/s all the way to 1.3 mb/s at times. I've been having my salad bowl and phone set up for many months and have been happily passing my technique to any friend that asks. I hope this helps your internet problems.

It should be noted that you should not have salad in the bowl while doing this.
It should be noted that you should not have salad in the bowl while doing this.
What about dressing? [editline]08:29PM[/editline] Okay it didn't work until i put dressing in the bowl apparently it has to do with the signals adhering to it so the phone can collect them.
What kind of dressing?
I like ranch. It helps absorb and transmit more protein from the internet.
mmm internet enzymes

His technique is similar to mine but his is only 3 or 4 times stonger, I've been told by a friend that my help got him a 90 times stonger connection.
hahaha
Yeah it increased my download rate from 100kb/s to 9mb/s
My buddy is at the International Space Station right now and he just told me that he gets an extra 1 mb/s. He normally get's 300-400 kb/s.

So,can you do this with router :v: ? Those good for nothing providers rip us off, hard.

What you do, is buy 10 meters of fiber optic cable, a switch that supports fiber optic, and a repeater. Also get a shovel and preferable some rubber gloves and rubber boots. Then go out infront of your house, and dig, around 2 meters down. There should be a large orange tube, cut into it. In there, there's some smaller black tubes, cut one in half and take off the isolation. Connect the repeater to the fiber optic cable, and your own cable to your switch. Now connect your computer, using an ethernet cable, to the switch. Enjoy 10Gb/s for 20 minutes, till suspicious vans starts appearing around your house.

So guys,i'm not getting any improvements,i'm still getting 105 kb/s,max out of my speed. Here's amateur sketch, because i've lost USB cable of my phone. Turn the antenna on the router so it's parallel with the tinfoil, that way it can pick up more of the signals bounced up from inside the bowl.
Turn the antenna on the router so it's parallel with the tinfoil, that way it can pick up more of the signals bounced up from inside the bowl.
This man is correct.
Thanks,will try. [editline]05:39PM[/editline] Doesn't work,but thanks for helping me. [editline]05:39PM[/editline] It goes 115 kb/s for 1 second,then it goes back normal.
