Hello Facepunch. My friend's Grandpa wants me to build a computer for him. His Grandpa will do the following with his computer. -Browse online -Look at and manage lots of pictures I've picked out the following parts. Cooler Master Elite 460W:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171046 4GBs of G. Skill DDR3 1333MHz RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231275 Antec 200 case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811129070 640GB Caviar Blue WD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136218 AMD 240 X2 @ 2.8GHz: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103688 Now for motherboards. I have found the two following motherboards that I seem to like. First. The MSI 785GM-E51. I'm feeling a bit skeptical about this motherboard being that MSI isn't really the best brand out there and I'd hate to stick his Grandpa with a build that will fail within a year or so. But I'd like to get it because of it's onboard ATI 4200. Second motherboard: ASUS M4A78LT. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131619 I like ASUS motherboards personally. The only reason I don't feel like getting this one is because it doesn't have integrated, which would force me to buy a dedicated GPU which will jack up the price over $400, and I don't wanna go over his limit. The price for the build with the MSI motherboard is about $374. The price for the build with the ASUS motherboard is ~$350. What are your thoughts Facepunch? Feel free to suggest a different motherboard. [editline]10:32PM[/editline] Oh, if you suggest a different motherboard it must be DDR3. It'd be stupid to buy DDR2 right now. [editline]10:33PM[/editline] I'm getting some good vibes from this motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131609. Any thoughts on that one?
Get an Athlon X2 7850. Good processor.
Get an Athlon X2 7850. Good processor.
Yeah, but so is the 240. [editline]10:47PM[/editline] I'm gonna finalize my build. All the parts stated in the OP with this motherboard. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131609 Any objections? [editline]11:00PM[/editline] I need a monitor to throw in with this. Nothing fancy, just a monitor that doesn't bust $175.
Go with the ASUS board and if you need a dedicated GPU just go for something like a 4350 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150335 Monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236051

I think the integrated 4200 will do just fine for those uses. [editline]12:48AM[/editline] Nice man, that was the exact monitor I was about to ask about. [editline]01:03AM[/editline] Alright I've finalized the build. Thanks everyone.
that is fine for what you are doing, I would opt out for a intel atom + pci video card, but what you got isn't bad.
Eh, I've already ordered and charged.
