Browser Rust is still my favorite version of Rust.
It was so simple, you could focus on raiding and fighting exclusively.

Is rust completely abandoning mutants then, haven't heard anything about them in forever and now they are focusing on human npcs?

Have a combination of these sounds would be pretty disturbing.
Of course the chatter should be not from the combine, but in the same sense that it is low-toned, heavy and when casually listening to it you cannot really make sense what they are saying. The Geiger counter ticking away at a low rate (possibly increasing when a player gets closer) and the heavy breathing through their mask.
There certainly is potential here.
Another note, perhaps these scientist can carry some rare items but are extremely hard to defeat because of their more advanced weaponry.
