Using a fileserver with FTP and Cpanel to run a Game Server.

Hi, sorry if I'm posting in the wrong section, I haven't been round these parts before.
Basically, I have a server with FTP and cpanel access, and I've been told it's possible to run a game server off it, providing I have remote desktop or something.
I don't know if that's right, but assuming it is, is it possible for me to set up remote desktop using cpanel? Cpanel doesn't seem to have an option for it but apparently you can download something to make this happen. Will the remote desktop also be enough to run a gameserver?
Sorry if this sounds boxworthy and all, this is my first experience with anything like servers. Usually I just play on them.

Your host will have to set up RD access for you, and most likley move you to a more expensive hosting option because of it.
As it is, you cant use RD. cPanel will be of no use, as that provides only web and ftp control.
