By now, everyone on the internet has seen — and fought bitterly over — this stupid dress. Some people will swear up and down that the dress is blue and black. Others insist, without any doubt, that it's white and gold.As it turns out, the dress is blue and black in reality. But then why do so many people see it so differently in the photo? Visual scientists can mostly explain what's going on here: We interpret the color of objects based on how we interpret the light around those objects. Different people are interpreting the ambiguous lighting in the dress photo in different ways, so their brains are essentially tricking them into seeing the dress as different colors. (A more detailed explanation is below.) The problem is that this only partly solves the mystery. Why are different people's brains tricking them in such radically different ways? One visual scientist calls this "one of the biggest individual differences I've ever seen" in color perception. Is it purely random? Or is there some variation in how our brains work? Here's a rundown of everything we know so far about the dress question.
http://www.vox.com/2015/2/27/8119901/explain-color-dress I have no idea the internet was capable of making such a thing viral. Like a goddamn dress. Also, I cannot figure out how people could see white and gold from the dress.
?? But it is white and gold
its based on how much light your eyes are letting in, if you see white and gold blindfold your eyes (remove light but keep your eyes open) for like 5 minutes and itll be blue and black
Man I wish I had a website and posted this, the sheer revenue from ads could make me rich.
Lol who cares (User was banned for this post ("Why reply?" - OvB))
What is this all about? Suddenly I see endless posts about this stupid dress and can't figure it out.
How about measuring the RGB values of the picture? This should end the discussions, I think.
who even gives a shit (User was banned for this post ("Why reply?" - OvB))
everybody needs to shut the fuck about this, honestly
I was like everyone else and saw this image and said "its blue and black what is the fuss I dont get it" But I clicked that article, saw the blue and black image, scrolled down to read it, scrolled up again and now the dress is white and gold. Im so confused. Is this real life.

I'm not sure why you feel the need to point out that you don't care.
"It's clearly blue and black." "No it's actually white and gold." Just tell me which color it is objectively darn it.

You know SOMETHING THAT MATTERS!!!
I'm not sure why you feel the need to point out that you don't care.
because i've been hearing about it nonstop for the past 24 hours and theres no point in further discussing it its a goddamn optical illusion, you either see one set of colors or you see the other, cool, whats left to discuss?
i mean i don't see why people are so buttmad about people talking like this, it's a little interesting i tabbed away from a picture with the dress open for a second and when i came back, black and blue. it's neat.
"It's clearly blue and black." "No it's actually white and gold." Just tell me which color it is objectively darn it.
blue and black
blue and black? give me a fucking break [t]http://puu.sh/gf6UE/bbfe96328c.jpg[/t]
is that not because there's a light source reflecting off of it or are my eyes deceiving me
I'm pretty sure you are hearing about it now because you clicked on this thread.
yeah, never mind the six thousand other places that i've been fucking hearing about it since i woke up people are just repeating themselves at this point because theres nothing left to say about the topic, shut up and move on.
i thought it was blue and gold :v:
Yeah I still can only see blue and black. People have shown ways to make I go from white yellow to blue black but not the other way around
How about measuring the RGB values of the picture? This should end the discussions, I think.
They're gold and light blue. Meaning the photo is terrible.
