There are always things that you think about when you think of a decade. For example, 1940s you think of World War II, 1960s you think of hippies, 1970s you think of boogieing at the disco. With the noughties drawing to close, how do you think this decade will be remembered? Personally I think it will probably be stuff like Facebook, iPods, shit like that, but that's a pretty easy answer. Maybe something about terrorism and the Iraq/Afghanistan War. What do you think, Facepunch?
We're only 9 years in, I don't think any memorial to the millenium is in need yet.
9/11 Internet pirates Ipods and Iphone ... 2012 etc
[QUOTE=Swebonny;17156718]9/11 Internet pirates Ipods and Iphone ... 2012 etc[/QUOTE] 2012 isn't in the oughties. And it's oughties, noughties sound retarded.

I think that it'll be remembered for the inaugeration of the first black US President. It was a monumental change, that.

-9/11 which would profoundly impact the world political climate of the next decade, and would make a big deal of: -Terrorism. Rarely before in recent history has such an umbrella term been thrown around with such weight. -Mass popularization of the internet, mobile communication (texting), and a slow shift towards -People-driven (compared to government or corporations) globalization through services such as blogging, social networking, and video sharing (YouTube) -A major growth in the environmental mentality (worldwide but especially in the west) -CGI becoming a major asset to the film/television industry -A shift away from and outspoken criticism against religion the likes of which have never been seen before in human history, in part thanks to -Science - science is leading the way into the 21st century, with many significant discoveries having already happened in 9 years -The continued development of technology, particularly computers, with their processing power doubling yet the processors themselves getting smaller every 18 months or so -the USA's first black president Those are the biggest ones I can think of but I'll add to it as I see fit
The 2000's were when we officially entered the future [editline]11:04AM[/editline] we have jetpacks and flying cars and lasers and moon houses now [editline]11:05AM[/editline] And we all wear tinfoil, skin-tight clothes that may seem entirely impractical upon scrutinizing their designs but that doesn't matter. [editline]11:06AM[/editline] And families are just like they were in the past which is now technically the present because we are in the future. Everyone is white and in space suits.
try thinking of one type of music to represent the noughties. go on try, you'll fail.
