• Potato cannons! Whats your design?

I'v been quite into the whole 'Home made potato cannon' craze in my school. I'v made a couple of prototypes which use air pressure or the gas from a can of antiperspirant. So what are your brilliant designs, I would like to see some which aren't to costly and some which have amazing distance, maybe a combination. Pictures, step by steps and personal accounts will be great ^.^
Oh hey, potato guns. This should be a fun thread. Been into these for a while. Posting at work so I'll have to add pictures of my others later. This is my most recent one. It shoots 1.25" potato slugs. Fuel is oxygen/mapp mix. Ignited with electric barbeque grill ignitor via dual spark plugs. Wired it up to micro switches on the grip for the trigger. Steel chamber (the pvc is just for the grip) and aluminum barrel. It's my strongest gun, although it's definitely not my favorite. Hearing protection is a must with this thing. Shitty pic, made this during the making of my final project for physics (an hho generator :v:) [thumb]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/17923674/IMAG2416.jpg[/thumb] kinda scared to test it out with the hho from the generator though
I know I had better pictures of these at some point, but I can't find them. Took these just a minute ago. The small gun on my left is by far my favorite. It's not terrible strong, but it's super easy to use and dead reliable, so pretty much everyone feels comfortable using it. Fun to bring out at parties. The gun (more like cannon) on the right is the oldest one I still have. It's missing the propane meter because I stole parts off it for other things. Pretty crude, but it's performance was impressive when it was new. [t]http://imageshack.us/a/img571/5360/66x8.jpg[/t].[t]http://img826.imageshack.us/img826/8540/7a6f.jpg[/t]
Very impressive looking guns, I must say i envy them all. Though I have to admit I have a group helping me on one very similar to the one you prefer. I would love to see one in action.

This sounds like my kind of thread. :v: In all seriousness, I haven't made a potato cannon, although I've wanted to. I just don't have the area to fire one in. There are some plans in a book I have called "Backyard Ballistics", and I've been toying around with an idea of converting one for airsoft or paintball or something, for artillery or something like that. But since I do neither airsoft nor paintball, it's just on the mental drawing board.
Last one I messed with years ago used engine de-greaser as fuel. Every shot used a workshop rag to hold w/e was to be shot, acted like a Sabot (didn't want to waste actual food). I could shoot rocks to nails/BBs etc thanks to to a single rag and it could be reused. Didn't have any fancy valves or anything, just PVC and a barbecue sparker.
I built this with some friends for a school project! [t]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/6047805/Bilder/2013-06-18%2012.00.28%20HDR.jpg[/t]
