As the title suggests, share your crash stories or crazy road experiences, no matter how big or small. I know some of the FP members have had some wild times on roads around the world xD If you have any photos/video of it add them :) Ok so, at this point i'm 26 from London, UK and never driven a car. A friend and I had turned up at a Rockmelon farm in Chinchilla, Australia whilst backpacking for a year, we had got the job from an old English contracter called Steve that got backpackers farm work on different farms around Queensland. Steve gave us a "Farm Car" to get from our house to the farm, (I say house, more so shack with as much beds as you could fit) This is her!: The beauty about this little stunner is gears 2 and 4 don't work so to drive, you go from 1-3-5. After work my friend and I would take the farm car and I would pretty much learn to drive, after a week of being at the farm Steve said he had seen me driving to the shop and how he wasn't happy with how the other backpackers drove the farm car, "The French are too aggressive with it" he told me and asked would I mind being the main driver, taking them to the farm, shop runs etc... I told him I only had a Learners Licence but he didn't really listen and to be fair, I didn't really repeat it, I was enjoying my new found driving fun. Work in Chinchilla had ended and a new job on a Cotton farm had started in Dirranbandi, so we packed up the cars and road tripped to a tiny house just off Cubbie Station (The Cotton Farm). After miles and miles/hours and hours of driving I was gaining more confidence, dealing with road-trains on roads only really big enough for a car as well as dodging Kangaroos, Emus and Pigs I was WORLDSTAR-SUPERSTAR-DRIVER-9000. And then this happened. ] This is or should I say was my bosses pride and joy, a Ford Falcon GLi 4.0 Automatic.... No more am I WORLDSTAR-SUPERSTAR-DRIVER-9000, I am Dickhead-Driver-0.1 Not only was I on a straight road, it was so straight for so long I had to map it. infact the locals dubbed it "Georges Corner" after me. https://mapsengine.google.com/map/edit?mid=zrhpj5Rd_NtQ.kltLujHpuToQ So, the crash... well, I was driving maybe a bit too fast as a little fox crossed my path, I panicked like a motherfucker the car veered to the left and started going off the dirt road, next thing I know, the steering wheel full locks to the left, ripping out of my hands and then spinning in the air crashing down on the passenger side at least twice, I think it's safe to say if it wasn't for the seat belt wouldn't be here today. I'm not sure how long it took me to wake up, it felt like seconds, I tried to open my door but it was stuck, I heard hissing and saw smoke, I then started to shit myself (not literally) lol. I turned and kicked my door open and stripped to my shorts, just looking at my body making sure stuff wasn't sticking out or in me, next I had to find the phone, it ended up being flung about 30foot from the car, if it wasn't for the bright orange case i'm sure it would have been lost forever. Now I don't know if you've been in the Outback but Optus(mobile phone network) doesn't like to work outside towns, if you saw the map I wouldn't get signal until 5km from Dirranbandi. So I started the long walk back to my bosses, knowing I have to tell him I've just flipped his best car 2-3 times. After 20mins of walking a guy rides up on a Trails Bike, I flag him down and tell him about the crash, he said he'd seen it and he would call for a medical crew and my boss from his Sat-Phone. I just sat there waiting for the boss, I didn't even care about going Hospital. Then he turned up. He looked at me, looked back at the car, spoke to the Bike rider then told me to get in his car he would take me to the tiny makeshift clinic they have in Dirranbandi On the way I told him what had happened and he took it rather well as far as I remember, I was in shock I think and slightly confused by life. At the Doctors they strapped me down with a neck brace and took X-Rays of everything, they couldn't believe I had walked away so much so they popped me on a flight with the Royal Flying Doctor Off I go to a huge hospital with MRI and CT, after a full day of tests I was given the all clear to go. So I jumped on a bus to Dirranbandi, as I got there Steve pulled me a side and said "I need another car now" I cut in quickly and told him I'd repay him for the car $2000 would have covered it I guessed but he said no, he'd booked me a bus ticket to Chinchilla, to get another car and then Drive it back to the farm in Dirranbandi......I thought this guy was off his rocker, I said to him I'd just flipped your car a few times, you wanna give me another? to which he replied "You won't crash again in a hurry, you need to crash a few time before you're a good driver" So off I went. The 6 hour drive back to Dirranbandi took me around 12 hours but I didn't crash! Steve only took $300 for the car I crashed in the end and even lent me a minivan to drive around in after work before I left Australia. [editline]25th November 2013[/editline] I'll be taking the bus from now on.
I tapped a car, and that's about the worse I've done. Though some bitch hit my car once when I was trying to park. They rolled their window down, said they saw no damage and sped off before I had a chance to even get out of my car. As for other people, I saw someone do a 360 spin on a wet road right behind me during a heavy down pour.
I'm pretty sure you are meant to not try and steer away when an animal gets in front of the car. You will do more damage to yourself and others if you try and turn away and save the animal.

I told my boss I didn't want to fuck up the bumper as he didn't have bullbars Fox 1 - Me 0
It's amazing how people escape car crashes without a scratch sometimes. Like around here, some passenger car just flipped around off the road, then a bunch of fat guys just climbed out while swearing at their misfortune and just shrugged it off, no harm done except the car.
I usually don't share personal stuff, but OP you're lucky as hell to be alive. I've had some of my closest friends in real life die because of car accidents.
Well once I was in this little jeep, driving along this sandy coast trying to get to my girlfriends father because he really needed help at the time (unfortunately he later passed away from a head injury, rest his soul). The bugs were nasty too, biting you and chance they got. I lost control from all the annoying bugs and drove into a stationed soldier and what looked like his APC. All of the sudden things got really slow, and my worst fears were realized as this message appeared: "HL2.exe has stopped working."
http://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1324466 Already a thread
Aha, so there is, is there any way of getting this moved to that Thread? :/
Hit a semi head-on going 60. Spider dropped down from my visor and my phobia kicked in. Next thing I know I'm looking at a semi-truck head on. I manage to swerve to the side just in time so that the back end of my car hits the front of the semi. My car didn't flip, but it did some spins and ended up hitting the trailer on the semi, breaking a hose and damaging one of the wheels on it. My car ended up stopping on top of a guard rail.
I hit a 40cm wall when reversing. Fuck low walls. (Ended up with a few scratches but that's about it)
My sister hit someone who fucking stopped and turned around on a slip road Just let that sink in
i was ran off the interstate by some fucker in a pickup truck because he was too stupid to check before shifting lanes luckily i saw him coming and i swerved out of his way, even luckier there were no cars to my right, i ended up losing control though and before i knew it i was perpendicular to the highway smashed into the railing Lady who came out and helped me said i nearly flipped my car The guy didnt stop, just kept on going [editline]25th November 2013[/editline] the car i was driving was ok save for a lot of ruined paint on the front bumper and the hood sat kinda funny
I wanted to move my oldtimer VW camper backwards a bit but was to lazy to open the rear curtains and hit a concrete trashcan. Thankfully It has an absolutely massive steel slideout bumper with a bike rack which took most of the hit. But there is a small dent/scratch on the platework. Thankfully I could get it fixed for a case of beer at my fathers workplace where they fix busses and metro's.
-snip, I'm late-
I rammed a new-ish car with my most definitely now new Nissan Sunny because she suddenly slammed the brakes like 20 meters before the crossing and she had ABS-brakes and I didn't. Also it was winter. That's pretty much all my crashes.
While I was getting ready to leave with my lorry at the hospital, I looked in the side mirror and I could see how a woman was reversing way too close to me when she hit me in the rear. She hit my lift, so there were no marks on my end, but her car had a huge dent. So I got out, ready to talk insurance, when she gets out and inspects both vehicles and says "What a day..." and drives away. Baffled. Oh, and I've reversed into a sign with my lorry. Some assface had parked very wrong so I had to park really weird and it ended up in me reversing into a sign when I was about to leave
Never been in one nor any of my relatives or friends have been in such as far as I know/am aware
Before I was born, my mom got hit by a lady going down the highway at night with her lights turned off. She was getting on the highway, and, of course, could not see her, since the section of highway was not lit, and the other driver had her lights off. Somehow, my mom was determined to be at fault by the insurance company. (???)
I nudged a guy who ran out from two cars once and that's about it. Actually here you go:
I ramped a curb in the work parking lot yesterday. My Eclipse now has a four fucked up tires and a bent something or another. Bumpers are fine somehow. I was also going like 60.
I can't say this for myself really but before I was born my dad had a lot of crashes. First one was the day he got his driver's license, backed up into a sign which caused it to fall on his car (not a big sign) Second was in his BMW where he crashed into a tree at about 40-60 mph, he got off with a scratch but the BMW was totaled. Third crash was on his BMW bike, he got hit by someone on the highway and slid a few hundred feet away without a scratch, except his bike. I think that's all, my father was very reckless before I was born, like going 180 on the highway etc. [editline]26th November 2013[/editline] I'm too young to drive btw but I wanted to share that.
I was driving on the interstate, just getting up to ~65mph when I started to hear a rattle. I looked down and turned off my stereo, then looked up and there was nothing. Hood flew up, caved in my windshield, shattered my sunroof and peppered me and the seats with shards of safety glass. Thankfully it all went into the top of my head, since I was looking down at the time. Car was totalled, I bought it back and had it back on the road a week later. Got rid of the car a year or so later when the engine blew up. Next car lasted 5 years before being totalled in a rear end collision. Held on to it another 8 months until I traded it in and bought a brand new Mazda, which I then crashed this summer when a Lexus SUV turned left in front of me. Her car was totalled, mine survived. I haven't been in any amazing crashes, there was one time where I was five and I was with my mom and this guy rear ended us, we spun out into a parking lot. I guess we were pretty lucky to not hit or be hit by anything else. Anyways, I was driving home on the parkway with my uncle (my uncle was driving not me) and the lady in front of us starts swerving and she veers off of the road, her car flips, becomes air borne, and flies into some trees, which tore off the top of here car. My uncle pulls over and tells me to wait in the car and he comes back.. idk... 5-10 minutes later and his arms were covered in blood. He told me the lady had a huge gash through her jaw and some other major injuries and he told me she probably wasn't going to make it. It scared the shit out of me and I was shaking for an hour even after I got home. Don't know if she lived. Going down the parkway I saw cops with their lights on but they were heading the wrong way. so yup thats my story
Feathered the gas while turning on a dirt road. Lost control and went around a tree. How that window managed to bend and not break, I do not know. Drove it home but ICBC would not allow the car to be driven again (because they are annoying cunts of a crown corporation). Sold it to someone who replaced the cab and had it on the road again two weeks later. Several years and another Tracker later I get distracted and the bitch ahead of me brakes on a freeway. She gets a punctured bumper and I get a crumpled fender. Manage to uncrumple the fender, beat out the panel, bondo, sand and repaint in a week and for less than $50. Once again, ICBC is a raging moneycunt and tells me to pay off her $2000 repair bill (because she can't get repaired at uncertified shops the only other options are assholes who suffer from "$400 washer syndrome")
someone hit me, it wasn't my fault. hey, i bought a new one though
how did they ding the front and back but not the middle? lol
I was not driving but I was involved in this one. I was with two friends of mine. We were heading somewhere, I do not recall now. It was a sunny day but we had some snow the day prior and it was that light dusty kind. It was really windy and in a flat rural area so despite the sun being out you would run into areas where it felt like you were in a blizzard. Zero visibility and the roads were terrible. Anyway, we came across an accident. I was a firefighter at the time and I said we should stop and make sure everyone is OK. We turned around and went to the scene and I got out, I was the front passenger. I approached the car and spoke with them and they said they were OK and had the police on the way as well as a ride. Just as I say "Ok, We'll go ahead and leave you guys alone since everything is OK (they were well off the road and not in danger) I hear this loud crash behind me. I turn around in time to see a bunch of debris and snow barreling at me. I had no time to really cover myself. I remember a bunch of stuff hitting me but it was so cold that day I do not recall what was later found. Anyway. I look immediately to my friends who were moving in the car and seemed OK. I then look to the car who hit them and realize they are trying to drive off. I chase after them and start pounding on the window. They look at me with this horrified look and stop. I yell at them and tell them they need to pull over and stay on the scene. I memorize their license plate real quick and run back to my friends. They were OK. First person to arrive is a state trooper who advises us if there are no injuries we needed to wait because they had several major accidents on the stretch of highway. I advise them of the idiot trying to drive off and they record the license plate for future reference in case they drive off and said he would be back. The next responder was an ambulance. I approach them and tell them we're OK. The EMT looks at me with this scared look and goes "Dude, you sure you're ok?" I say yes I am fine. He asks if I have seen my face and then turns the door so I can see the rearview mirror and my face. I had a bloody nose which had now pretty much froze blood to my face. I felt fine and told him to roll on to people who needed more help. Turned out a hubcap from one of the vehicles is what hit me in the face during the collision. The next responder was a fire engine which turned out to contain another friend and his Dad. I ended up linking with them to respond to other people who needed help along the stretch of highway. It was really bad. Lots of bad injury accidents.
how did they ding the front and back but not the middle? lol
it's hardly a ding, the entire front was caved in. it was totaled. anyway, it's because i hit them with the front of my car then both cars spun and i hit them again with the back of my car it was still their fault
