TOKYO -- A volcano has erupted in southwestern Japan and coated a nearby city with a layer of ash.
People in Kagoshima city wore masks and raincoats and used umbrellas to shield themselves from the ash after the Sakurajima volcano erupted Sunday afternoon.
Drivers turned on their headlights, and local media described the ash like driving through snow at night. Railway operators stopped service in the city temporarily so ash could be removed from the tracks. Buildings stand shrouded in ash after the Sakurajima volcano erupted in the afternoon in Kagoshima, on the southern Japanese main island of Kyushu on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2013. Drivers use headlights early evening as the streets are covered by ash after the Sakurajima volcano erupted earlier in the day in Kagoshima, on the southern Japanese main island of Kyushu.
Kyodo News reported no injuries have occurred. It said the smoke plume was 5 kilometres high and lava flowed about 1 kilometre from the fissure.
Damn Japan, you need to consider moving.
It's not their fault they lived in a earthquake prone and volcanic region part of the earth
japan gets all the natural disasters
Why the hell would you live there
"Honey the Volcano is erupting again"
Dunno, but I'd love to vacation there for a year, I'd wear a freaking mask everywhere though as not to kill my lungs.
Why the hell would you live there
Well the city's separated from the volcano by water so it's not that big of a deal really
Why the hell would you live there
At least its not like in Indonesia where some villages is literally at the foot of a volcano and a handful of people refuse to move even though they've been given the order to evacuate.
It's like 4th era Solsthiem in real life.
I know some people who love anime and manga so much it's become their main goal to move to Japan.
"But there's a lot of natural disasters happening there"
"dont worry im gonna live in the city ^o^"
I was concerned that this would be Mt. Fuji, given that scientists have said it is ready to blow sometime soon (not too long ago).

Just imagine how much money those shops are making when the sell out all their masks.
Its a bit weird that I can start smelling smoke after watching this video.

I went to a mountain biking event in Fort William, Scotland last year and there were so many midges and so many people buying midge nets that they started charging £10 for the things.
It's the 500th eruption this year.
And we're only 8 months into the goddamn year!

With an army of tentacles, likely.

The whole of Japan isn't plagued by catastrophes...Okinawa for instance. Teeny teeny island, never a Tsunami (but typhoons occasionally).

Maybe you should check and see if anything's on fire in your immediate vicinity.

at least the house prices must be cheap there

a lot of this people end up leaving within a year because they end up hating it there but that's because they had a unrealistic expectations of what's it like.
a lot of this people end up leaving within a year because they end up hating it there
yeah they hate it on day one when they realize great Nippon isn't full of animus and waifus
wow people are just blowing this out of proportion
i feel bad for japan though :(
I'd like to see that. It's majestic.
It's all their fault.

because it's a volcano
Forgive me.

I love the city of japan ^_^
SO KAWAII
Why the hell would you live there
because it's one of the most fertile places ever so obv people would start villages there
some of you make moving an entire city of people so easy, you know there are reasons people live near volcanos?
