Last Friday i bought an Ati Radeon HD 4550 from bestbuy for the price of $150 canadian dollars. When i got home and tried to install it, it could not fit in my slimline pc due to the large metal parts. So i cut them off (HUUUGEE MISTAKE). It still worked. But while i was browsing the internet i found out the 4550 is a fucking VALUE card worth around 40 dollars on newegg. Now i cant return it because of the cut metal and they ripped me off 110 dollars. If i ever return that shit i will buy everything online. Big companies always rip you off. Right now i could have had a 9800 GTX + if i knew what i was doing... I might even call them up notifying them they are selling a 40 dollar card for 150, the price of a card 4x better.
that's what you get for buying computer parts from bestbuy
Bahahahahaha how is it best buy's fault at all you're an idiot
Your fault for fucking with the card and buying PC parts from Best Buy.
It costs the most so it must be good! :buddy: Research before you buy.
Check the dimensions before you buy, smart one. Also, what are you doing with a slimline case anyway? :monocle:
Congratulations on finding out Best Buy overprices everything for no good reason at all other than being greedy. You should try Geek Squad though, because they never perform unnecessary repairs on things that were never broken in the first place just to rack up the bill.
your fault totally
Bought a 4350 from there for 100 bucks, saw it on Newegg for 30.
This one time at Best Buy I got a CD that said it costs 10 bucks but they charged me seven bucks because the computer said so I like Best Buy.
I hate Best Buy, the only reason I use it is to play Rock Band with my friends
it was the first time i bought a video card so i thought i would go with the biggest pc part place i know, just so i dont get a defected one. Maaaan i should buy from neweeg.
It's called research. Most people do it when buying PC parts.
It's called research. Most people do it when buying PC parts.
most people do it when buying anything expensive at all [editline]a[/editline] most SMART people do it when buying anything expensive at all
It costs the most so it must be good! :buddy: Research before you buy.
My pc'd old gpu was broken at the time so i just bought the most expensive.
It's not best buys fault you decided to not brows around for the best prices nor is it their fault that you fucked up the card and thus are unable to return it. Blaming Best Buy for your own misdoing is like blaming a raped girl for getting pregnant. One more thing, what the hell is a best buy doing in Canada? I thought they were called future shops up there?
Oh, did i also mention the 4550 kept overheating so now I'm using my on board graphics?
I went to Bestbuy and bought The Orange Box + The Orange Box Strategy Guide, and a CSS pack that came with CSS, DODS, and HL2 : DM a few years back. Total? 95$ How much did i pay? 70$ The new girl didnt ring up my strategy guide right, and the CSS pack was 20$ in all. Orange Box just came out around then, maybe a few months earlier (i honestly forget, but i got it for 50$) And so that is why i love Valve so much, i saw my luck as an omen to become a Valve gamer.
Bestbuy sells things for more because its in store and they need to buy these things in bulk and stock them. So anything in a store will be more expensive then it is online. I sometimes buy from bestbuy but it depends on what im getting/looking for.
Oh, did i also mention the 4550 kept overheating so now I'm using my on board graphics?
Nope, you definitely did not.
Well. now im going to try to buy a 9800 GTX + from newegg. Or some guy thats high on crack and selling it for less than that on ebay.
Yeah Newegg is always > than BestBuy with this stuff.. even video games are cheaper on NewEgg.
You... Cut a piece of your video card off?

Fry's Electronics down the road sells the same things, and 95% of the time they sell it cheaper. BestBuy = trendy consumer electronics marketed towards the average population at higher prices
You cut metal pieces from your card? Holy crap man. That's probably what killed your card.
The metal peices that hook onto your pc to keep it stable. It wasent part of the board or fan or w/e it had screws to take it off.
Oh, did i also mention the 4550 kept overheating so now I'm using my on board graphics?
That's what happens when you cut off the fucking heatsink.
Ahaha, i like to go into bestbuy and ask tech support questions to the "Geek Squad"
i guess best buy...wasn't the best buy for you.
