Remaining is now backed by an extremely slim majority of 51 per cent, versus 49 per cent who wish to leave the EU. This suggests a small number of voters have changed their views since the UK voted to leave the EU by a margin of 52-48 on 23 June.
I'm not going to say that Leaving the EU or Remaining in the EU is dumb. I'm just going to say, having the vote based on a simple majority was one of the dumbest decisions in British political history.

They voted to leave right? They will get what they want,no turning back on this one.I feel sorry for the ones that wanted to stay in the EU since the beginning but a decision is a decision. Why didn't they do this in Parliament instead of making a referendum?

A decision technically has not been made to leave the EU until Parliament votes to do so.
I see, thanks for clearing that up.
I know that we'll eventually leave the EU, the government is too weak to change their minds and stay in. I just hope it gets delayed ad long as possible
lol only 51% how stupid are you
As opposed to the 52% that voted to leave?
Just have another vote jesus, it's very clear that a lot of the voters didn't truly know what leaving the EU really ment, and that a lot of the ones who votes for leaving have changed their opinion. Britain should have been much more clear on what it actually ment to leave the EU, not only present them with a "Yes" or "No" with pretty much no context whatsoever.
Many people would find another vote anti democratic, mainly the leave side, but then they also think that allowing the Parliament to vote on triggering article 50 is also anti democratic so who knows.
the only possible reason that there would be for not having another vote would be because the brexiters are afraid that the public might not fall for the rhetoric twice especially now that remain's arguments are coming to pass anyway
Absolutely both sides of the campaign were terrible the stay campaign was really weak, and the leave side was just full of lies
Both were full of lies, if stay would have been just 'weak' stay would have won... it was just 'fuck these lying politicians giving false narratives around, lets just vote the most destructive shit for lulz/the underdog' combined with 'im afraid for my countries future, i want to go back to our glory days and the EU is a fucking disaster'. When everyone lies people vote with their gut, their gut told them it used to be better and they used to be outside the EU so the choice was simple for most older folk.

The whole 'anti-democratic' argument falls apart when you realize taking a decision such as this based on a non binding referendum alone, without parliamentary approval and only through executive action is against how British democracy works in principle. The pigfucker is the one to blame for this mess in the first place, not only he allowed the referendum to take place as it was, he left everything in disarray after quitting.
The research, conducted by BMG Research, found the main swell of support came from people who did not vote in the referendum over the summer. Of those who didn't vote in June, 46 per cent said they now would in order to back EU membership, while 27 per cent said they would in order to vote to leave.
Correct title would be: "Poll finds that absolutely nothing has changed"

The worst ones from our perspective would have been the ones around 1845-50, when we still part of that sorry Union.
I know that we'll eventually leave the EU, the government is too weak to change their minds and stay in. I just hope it gets delayed ad long as possible
The longer this decision is delayed, the worse it's going to get for the UK. Uncertainty is what's making the wobbly and it will keep being that way until a decision is made and the government is committed to acting on it.
The UK people voted. The majority wons as it's the rule. There's nothing to explain - They regret and will regret terribly their decision.
These the same polls that said Remain would have won before the Brexit vote?
These the same polls that said Remain would have won before the Brexit vote?
the whole concept of margin of error is that when you see a poll that has 51% for and 49% against, it could easily end up being 47% for and 53% against. or alternatively, it could be 55% for and 45% against. depending on the demographics that turn out, the weather, the economic conditions, and complacency of the winning camp, incredibly tight votes can swing either way with ease. it's the reason that in a lot of countries, referendums that have an extremely tight margin are deemed unrepresentative and are thrown out. not in the UK though!
if it gets delayed enough, maybe the movement to kill brexit can generate enough momentum hard brexit (and by extension pretty much the entire point of brexit) is already dead, might as well try going in for the coup de grace
The point has been made to leave, no amount of whining and trying to pull some stupid shit and not do it wont happen.
The point has been made to leave, no amount of whining and trying to pull some stupid shit and not do it wont happen.
"Whining." Can people not complain about the fact that something that will affect their whole entirely life was passed by about 2% of the population, and that the highest support for leave came from those who won't have to live with its consequences?
The point has been made to leave, no amount of whining and trying to pull some stupid shit and not do it wont happen.
except if the majority of people don't want to leave, the majority of our elected officials don't want to leave, the majority of experts say its a bad idea, and we would directly harm our economy, standards of living, and rights by leaving, then its pretty much an objectively bad idea being done solely to make things worse for the sake of making things worse [editline]4th November 2016[/editline] also I'm hoping the supreme court tells the government to fuck off in December, it'll cause the pound to spike and i'll be able to get a better exchange rate on my euros for holiday
"Whining." In reality, it was actually 1.44%
except if the majority of people don't want to leave, the majority of our elected officials don't want to leave, the majority of experts say its a bad idea, and we would directly harm our economy, standards of living, and rights by leaving, then its pretty much an objectively bad idea being done solely to make things worse for the sake of making things worse
Yes, but Sobotnik, most people are idiots, our elected officials are corrupt, and we're all tired of experts. So let's go ahead and hurry up and slash our wrists already so we can lay in the bath tub in peace.
The point has been made to leave, no amount of whining and trying to pull some stupid shit and not do it wont happen.
My job is heavily linked to the EU membership so I have to put my life on hold to see what kind of deal we get if we do leave. If I make any big financial decisions and then it all goes to shit I would be pretty fucked.
The point has been made to leave, no amount of whining and trying to pull some stupid shit and not do it
weren't you one of those that said it's the people's decision now that the people's decision isn't leave, suddenly it doesn't matter, does it lol you people, i swear, it's all blind hatred for everything
The vote has been cast. Polls are not national referendums.
it's still the public's opinion
