New human rights rules tell employers to give VEGANS and druids the same rights as Christians in the workplace

- The Equality and Human Rights Commission has released new advice
- Says deeply held beliefs by vegetarians, vegans, atheists, ecologists and druids should be taken seriously by bosses
- Comes after series of judgements by the European Court of Human Rights
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) says that vegans could be provided with a non-leather chair in the workplace and vegetarians can legitimately refuse to clean out a fridge with meat in it.

druids?
Wait hold up.
People were literally being bullied over their diet lifestyles?
Ecologists?
Oh regarding leather.
That makes more sense than the picture I had in mind of someone slapping a Vegan in the face with sausages.

People are bullied over anything, its normal but awful.
Finally! Thank you EU

As if a Vegetarian sitting in a leather chair is a human rights violation..

Happens here on facepunch all of the time, you can't mention being vegan or vegetarian at all without the entire thread devolving into a jerkoff about how meals aren't meals until they've suffered or something like that.
Or how it's impossible to eat healthily as a vegitarian.
im totally becoming a druid
I understand the change in rules. I myself have been bullied multiple times for my appearance.

druids used to be discriminated because they used to spill magic potions in the work area
The comments as usual provide the most amusement.
What about giving Christians equal rights with other workers, from what has happening of late Christians have very few rights.

Like they're any less legitimate or silly than any religion.

We should allow people to have religious holidays no matter their belief.
Hence I have now not only established my own church, but I am tax-exempt, and have an unlimited holiday due to my religious beliefs.

Well considering paganism is older than Christianity, I would say just 'inventing' religion off hand to suit needs is not a fair comparison.

Except paganism of the kind described as where you take pilgrimages to Stonehenge are modern inventions.
Plus, why should religions be more important than another based on their age or number of followers?
Yeah boss I'm a level 90 druid so I need to take some time off for this pilgrimage you see and uh what do you mean I'm bullshitting you I'm serious

No one said they should be. But surely you can tell the difference between what constitutes between established religion and what doesn't.
Gospel churches are a modern invention.

there's a point when it's clear someone is just bullshitting to get benefits

What constitutes an established religion? Is Scientology one? Multiple countries recognize it as one.

You just kinda answered it yourself.
New human rights rules tell employers to give VEGANS and druids the same rights as Christians in the workplace
this is such a daily mail sentence, you can taste the sneering inflections
please stop posting stuff from the daily mail, if you see something interesting on there find another source that's less, well, shit
You just kinda answered it yourself.
Or we could adopt the French policy towards religion.
According to druidry.org from the 2011 UK census, there were 4,189 Druids, 56,620 Pagans, 23,566 of mixed religion and 11,766 Wicca(ns?)
Funnily they also put this:
Jokers had their day with 176,632 listing ‘Jedi Knight’ and 6,242 listing Heavy Metal as their religion.
What a bunch of jokers
If you created a religion that gives you unlimited holidays no one would hire you in the first place
Or we could adopt the French policy towards religion.
Now you're not even making sense.
First you were surprised at the idea at treating established religions equally, because it might lead to people inventing religions on the spot to suit their own personal needs. Then you asked how do we recognise what is an established religion, then in the same sentence provided an answer: saying that there is already a legal framework in which countries decide what constitutes as established and otherwise.
Basically you're getting your fedora in a spin over nothing.
