I wish more games used the SVP chip. I would love to have a native Genesis version of Doom, even if it would be more like the SNES port than the 32X.
No mention of the Sega CD? That thing was amazing [img_thumb]https://mybrainongames.files.wordpress.com/2012/06/lethal-enforcers.jpg[/img_thumb] Came with the revolver light gun. Classic Tomcat Alley.. Dragon's Lair... Sewer Shark...Rebel Assault...
This guy managed to do a Wolf3d port to Sega Genesis (stock system with no additional hardware needed!) Original iD ported SNES version for comparison
The Sega Genesis is and will always be my favorite console of all time. I don't think I've ever sunk in more hours into a single console [editline]12th April 2015[/editline] My cousin has one but the console and all the games are in the Dominican Republic with his mom. He kind of became addicted to heroin though so I'm sure I'll be able to take it!
Still have my Mega Drive, I play every now and then. In the early 00's myself and a few friends got into modding the consoles, changing the led light, fitting the board with a 60hz switch, and widening the cartridge door for Japanese carts.
-wolf3d-
From the same guy
They forgot to mention how Sega Channel prompted the cable broadcast industry to optimize their networks, which is pretty significant. Man, 90s SoA was arguably the best 1st party game company ever. They loved their product and really worked to see it thrive through good marketing and software. Ever since Tom Kalinske left in 96 SoA went to shit and SoJ hasn't given a shit about the US since.
From the same guy
that letterboxing and sub-60 fps just makes it so much more cinematic than the snes version!
Despite SNES being superior from a technical point I still enjoyed way more games on Genesis. To this day the Gen version of Zombies Ate my Neighbours, Revenge of Shinobi and the Streets of Rage series are by far my favourite games ever.

Like with the Wolf3D port it's not using any external hardware. There's also this one using a different rendering method
