If I sell my work freelance to a company would I supply them with the final jpg/pdf etc only, or do they also own the PSD's? Seen a few sites with conflicting info, a grey area perhaps? We're talking UK here.
I would assume they would own all of the work that has anything to do with it. For example, if the final result was a set of pngs, they would also own all of the psds. Or it could be that it would have to be included in the buy.
Thanks, i just wondered.
Depends on the contract. But most of the time source files have to be provided.
I would say ask them.
Well it depends on the price. If they're paying you $25 for an image, then I wouldn't give them the PSD nor the rights to complain if you re-use the same image for something else. They're just buying rights to use it. If they're paying you a hefty sum though, something worth it all, then you'd give them the entirety of the work along with full copyright.
