Ok, so I just reformatted, and I thought I'd start all over, so now I am in the state of finding a new antivirus. BUT! I don't know which one I should buy, can you guys help me?

Also, you really didn't need a new thread.

If you want to spend cash on AV (which I think is stupid), I would recommend Kaspersky Internet Security

Avast+MBAM is pretty okay
ugh, this thread again
MSE, It's nice and lightweight, also has pretty good detection for a free one . Also consider Avast, and get malwarebytes too add to any protection system .
Avast has saved my computer's ass a couple of times, and thankfully they removed the old klaxon alarm sound whenever it finds something. I use MSE on my new cureent computer, and I havent had any issues.
I think someday we're going to need a sub form for anti-virus recommendations.
Doesn't expect that someone will mention MSE. Still, it is really good antivirus, and also free.
I use MSE on my laptop and MSE+Comodo on my desktop (Plus malwarebytes for occasional scanning).
Microsoft Security Essentials if you want something that "just works."
Avast if you want the above but with a lot of functionality customisation.

This. Malwarebytes is worth paying for!
Antivir2010
I would have to say MSE, coupled with Malwarebytes and perhaps other useful tools such as CCleaner.

I always find it funny that one person will post this, and everyone else goes on and on about their stupid antivirus preferences.
Well it has become a weekly thread. People just don't know how to search for shit.
If you go about downloading random files for viruses, your computer's immune system should kick in and start producing electronic antibodies.

I have some kind of malware on my computer, goes by the name Norton. Thats the screen it keeps popping up on my desktop.
I'm having a tough time removing it, and it keeps counting down the days until I'm forced to pay someone called Symantec, otherwise it will open up my computer to viruses
Any idea on how to get rid of this?
Okay but really, what's the best way to ensure Norton gets completely removed? I heard it leaves stuff in registries etc.
They provide a removal tool on their site. It doesn't seem to miss anything when I last checked. Run that.
