For those that don't know what the mana bar is here is a quote from their website that will help you.
Featuring next generation video game systems available to play 7 days a week with the latest, greatest, and most social games available. You'll even be able to play games before they're released! With unique events every night of the week, exclusive prizes and giveaways, and the ability to buy new games behind the bar as well! The Mana Bar is one of Brisbane's most funky drinking venues, with a unique selection of drinks and custom cocktails on offer. Open now, the Mana Bar is located at 420 Brunswick Street, Fortitude Valley.
Now here is the big news:
Thursday, 12th April 2010 – After opening just over four months ago, the world’s first dedicated console video game cocktail bar is expanding to open up venues in Melbourne, Sydney, and Internationally. Originally opening in Brisbane, Australia in March 2010, the Mana Bar features all the latest video game consoles playable alongside an extensive selection of unique cocktails, craft beers and premium spirits. It has been both a critical and commercial success, and due to a heavy public demand the creators have decided to expand. By making the venue accessible to a general audience while still being credible to your more discerning gamers, the Mana Bar has successfully broken all expectations as well as stigmas about the kind of people that play games. “What we’ve seen is the opposite of so many people’s expectations” says owner Guy ‘Yug’ Blomberg. “Having casual multiplayer games actually gets our patrons socialising with each other more than any other bar or club I’ve been to.” Thanks to a successful online social media presence as well as national and international recognition, the demand for a Mana Bar in other cities has been loud among the communities. “The Mana Bar’s Sydney and Melbourne will be open before the end of the year, and expanding into the rest of Australia will follow very shortly after. We are currently in discussions with other passionate entrepreneurs around the world who want a Mana Bar in their countries as well.” “It’s exceptionally exciting, and we’re amazingly humbled that so many people have enjoyed our idea as much as we have!”
http://www.manabar.com.au/index.php
Oh god get this out of my city The fact that they named it the MANA bar is just an assurance that it's basically a basement V2 from what I can tell
Awesome. I hope one eventually appears in the UK.
Awesome. I know where I'm having my 21st.
-snip-
I wish one would come to England. But it wouldn't have the attraction of being able to meet Yahtzee :(
Just to let you alcoholics know their is a COCKTAIL called the mana potion. An exhilarating blend of 42 Below Vodka, apple pressé and the bluest of Blue Curacao’s, all shaken with fresh lime and charged with sparkling white wine served straight up.

At most of the Lan parties I've been to I, socialized a lot with people I never met before so that aspect seems okay. But even casual gaming turns competitive and might cause some tension which mixed with alcohol seems like a bad idea.

Actually sounds like something good, which means there's no hope of getting one in my town.
I wonder if they'll be coming to NYC
after seeing pictures from the one in brisbane, i hope it fails in expanding to my city in melbourne.. holy fuck it looks like crap to me
Looks can be deceiving.
I hope so!
Here's the mana bar on the opening night- Yahtzee is one of the founders, if you didn't know. I can hardly call it a basement. Actually looks pretty awesome, I would definitely go there if I could.
Jesus Christ, I wish one of those was in my town :crying:
I wonder if I can get sued for starting a similar venue under a different name... :ninja:
I want five in Finland :iia:

I'd rather not listen to shitty "8-bit techno music" by some lanky kid playing it on his gameboy while I'm drinking Too bad none in Canada.

There needs to be one in Baltimore. That place would get packed.
That drink is like the appletini for nerds.
Playing FPS while drunk what a good strategy
This actually works [editline]01:18AM[/editline] Wow, their game collection is really shit.

Let's get drunk and piss off some noobs!
