Peter Joseph, Jacque Fresco and their followers will never overthrow the current socio-economic structure of humanity -- we don't need that. The current economic paradigm is fine; it's adjusted by nature itself via capitalism and its principle, natural selection; and it's sustained by a slight mix of socialism (e.g. via universal healthcare).
The worst of this movement are the conspiracy films in which they attempt to "expose" the supposedly corrupt leaders behind the system -- a move that will never assist them. The governments are not there to betray the people, and do not lie to the people. The governments govern society to eliminate social and economic pathologies. That, and their anticipation of the monetary system for collapse -- this will not happen. Sure, it has its ups and downs, but the system is fine for our needs, and will eventually result in global sustainability (how about that? No poverty? Surely such a system must be removed!).
In short, all these global and socio-economic conspiracy movements are dumb -- they're nothing more than paranoid agendas pushed by a small group or a single leader that is somewhat reflective of terrorism.
I shall now proceed to my tinfoil house to eat my tinfoil pancakes!
Screw your tinfoil house and tinfoil pancakes. Have a brick house and real pancakes.
Informative and true. I wish I could give two ratings.
My dad watches Zeitgeist whenever he wants a good laugh.

I broke a table at school, should I make a thread about that?
Why did you post this again?
What do you mean?
What do you mean?
He doesn't think your content is thread worthy.
While I agree that conspiracy theories are pretty much bullshit, as we have seen thanks to Wikileaks it is equally bullshit to say that the government doesn't lie to us at all.

Apologies, I was merely reflecting upon the recent advent of Zeitgeist 3: moving forward.
What do you mean?
Hes probably thread shitting.
Why did you post this again?
Here you are, have a nice ol' box for thread shitting.
shit I am too by posting this
But i agree with what you're saying. But clearly, exposing our government is a good idea on some levels. As long as they don't compromise the country a hole.
Our government is doing very little to "weed" out society from the "bad seeds". Its more monetary benefits for them, less for us. They're venturing away from the very idea, that we are their boss. And all they do is extend acts that deterrate our freedoms. They fight wars, none of us want. They make laws, that benefit the minority.
The government isn't here for YOU or ME. They're there for them, for their buddies, for their wallets, for their large estates. Atleast on the US end, conservative or liberal. Socialist or Tea Bagging.

What.
I'm sorry, any point you might have had was just invalidated.
"Current system is fine, because I'm fine!"

Haha, oh wow.
Just wow.
I kind of agreed with their points about the monetary system.
Has anyone seen Money Masters? That's just as bad! In short, it's nothing more than a film attacking the federal reserve and other central banks established across the globe. It also wrongly suggests that the gold standard has been abolished, and is thusly fundamentally wrong since fiat currency sits atop gold (albeit we'd all be carrying quite a lot if we reverted to such legacy; so instead, we carry something more convenient that represents a particular quantity of gold).
The value of gold is as arbitrary as the value of money, just saying.
I liked how it showed the falacies of religion though, sure alot of the movie was bullshit but it had some valid points.
which makes this thread pointless
which also makes this post pointless..
I know someone who believes that Obama's a Nazi and believes in that Zeitgeist shit. It was on Facebook too, if I can find it, I'll post it.
I heard that the guy who short that Congresswoman got all his ideas about being able to magically create currency and start his own country from Zeitghist.
I used to really believe in this shit, but then I turned 14

I don't get how it's bad. It's not perfect, but it's better than our current system.
I've only seen their 3rd movie and I've yet to actually come across any clear rebuttal for it.
From what I know, a good amount of what they say is true.
I think it's obvious to anyone that corporations exist to fill a need. If there's no need, why would someone use them? This isn't nice world, where people are out to help eachother. Top businesses only exist to help themselves and do so by perpetuating or creating false senses of problems. It's a valid and widely used business tactic.
Don't get me wrong, I'm doubtful of such an extremely different system like this and so I'd really like for someone to prove me wrong about it (There are probably intelligent people who can point out such qualities), but until such time, I still stand on this side.

It's not fine at all. People are starving and dying everyday when they shouldn't really have to.
[editline]16th February 2011[/editline]
I think a society solely based on giving the best life-standard possible with the available resources all based on science is a great idea. I have only watched the third movie though.

The cables proved that the overwhelming majority of the time our government does exactly what we expect and suspect them of doing.
-snip-
Holy shit son! bring on the patriotism!
It's the fault of the religious leaders and corrupt businessmen. They swarm into our countries, take the money from our pockets, and here we are. Living in a state run by bureaucratic bullshit whilst people die because the fire department is not allowed to save them without proper equipment and religious figures who fondle children whilst everyone turns their back and ignores them.

I kinda like the Zeitgeist movement but I don't like this post.
Everything is fine, it's all just bullshit ignore what you're hearing and return to your duties.
The currency system is broke and is being exploited to the point of being a scam. It's not a big problem to fix at all, it's just getting people to pull out a calculator and think for a minute.
No politics, no conspiracies, just a bunch of ignorant people fucking themselves and everyone else over big time.
