Australians are being warned of the possibility of terror attacks in Turkey as Anzac Day approaches. File image.
AUSTRALIANS attending Gallipoli's Anzac Day dawn service are being warned of the possibility of a terrorist attack in the country.
Visitors making the April 25 pilgrimage are being told to "exercise a high degree of caution in Turkey because of the high threat of terrorist attack".
The warnings, contained in the Department of Foreign Affairs' Smartraveller bulletin for Turkey and Anzac travellers, ask people to be aware terrorists are constantly active in the country.
There have been nine notable events since 2010, and Australian Amanda Rigg, 22, was killed when a suicide bomber hit an Istanbul police station in 2001.
Isn't Turky one of the places marked for travellers to be cautious in since this whole terrorism thing became the norm or is it only people travelling with American/British passports?
It looks like the people in the photo are ultra patriot 'strayans to me and that companies have monetized anzac day to all fuck with the hoodies and flags, I would like to go to turkey to honor the soldiers at least once in my life, maybe when I have joined the australian army.
Lest we forget
The Australian army are BAMF's, there was a documentary a while back about their operations in Afghan(?) and it pretty much verified my opinion that Aussies turn 18 and build a house from manlyness and balls in the outback.
The kit they carried was horrendus in a good way, who the fuck needs/carrys claymores in Afghan?
I'd love to see what the actual kit they carry is, not just what they show off in such shows; it's gotta' be heavy as all hell.

I see it all the time when I go onto the base for cadets, it doesn't look too heavy then again I haven't tried it on yet. Oh well 2 more years until I can enlist.
A guy in the RAF Reg I know was the one who sent the link to watch it, it's pretty good stuff; I can try and dig it up if you want to watch it.
According to him, typically they dont use them over there because kids etc are dicks and will generally just run around being kids and you really dont want to be headline news blowing off their legs with a claymore; but he says the Aussies carry the full kit and even he was dumstruck at how little fucks they give having to lug it around.

Yes please, I would love to watch the video but yeah in cadets you have to buy your own shit and I can understand why they wouldn't give it to kids cause they don't want the troublemakers fucking with the army's shit.
Who the fuck would bomb anzac day
Setting up claymores as victim initiated technically classes the claymore as a mine which we aren't allowed to use anymore due to signing up to the '97 Ottawa convention.

No we blow a lot of smoke up our own arses and the media loves to play up the whole australian hard sloggin rifleman culture image, but the reality is Aussies do sweet fuck all in afghanistan. - I'm not talking out of my arse there, that's an opinion you can see repeated time and time again by our own soldiers on military forums.
The SOTG are the only part of the australian military that do anything much of significance in Afghanistan.
Also the masculine culture of australia is largely overplayed in media too. Most parts of Australia aren't far off from resembling American culture to be honest, which we take a lot of influence from. Australia for the most part is basically a smaller America without the huge economic and social issues. The outback culture is slowly dieing.
I hope there is a lot less nationalist drum-beating on Thursday compared to Australia day.
Guys
Guys.
Hey guys.
New Zealand is part of the whole ANZAC thing too.
:(

A week ago I would never have thought someone would bomb a marathon

Given that suicide bombs are indiscriminate against who they kill, I doubt this was specifically against Australians.
