He was 87. His daughter, Patricia Leroy, confirmed the musician's death to Rolling Stone.

If he were here today, there is nothing that Jean-Jacques would like more than to think that his fans were playing his crazy, funny, catchy Moog music right now – and smiling, instead of being sad. His motto and creed in almost every interview that he gave, was 'Keep smiling, and be happy!' He was the master of happiness," Countryman wrote. "Thank you, Jean-Jacques for all the happiness you created in your lifetime – music that will live on for generations to come."
May he rest in peace. He made a lot of synth music during the 60's, some of which you probably know. God speed is all I can say. I always keep coming back his catchy little tracks for a pick me up, Moog Mig Mag Moog in particular has a great and almost nostalgic feel to it.
First I'm hearing of him, may he rest in peace.
Oh god, no. His music has always been wonderful
I had no idea he had cancer... This is really sad.
His music was instrumental to the first signs of rebellion i had to my uptight emotionally abusive parents. When my parents would complain about it saying how far superior classical music is to my horrid tastes I would play this and they would start fuming from the mouth. Just listening to these tracks brings emotions out about that time with me, this music and especially popcorn means a lot to me.
I used to play The Little Ships to my late budgie all the time as it was his favourite track and it would always get him to calm down. Sad to hear that he's left us

His music is so cheery
Jesus Christ on a bicycle, Ive been thinking about that name all day while here at work and I couldnt figure out why since I had no idea who that was. Thats some terrifying shit right there, especially since there's no cell service here nor is there wifi so I couldnt have seen the thread title or name on fp.
This was the first track I heard when I started looking up his older works that weren't popularized by things such as YTMND and Youtube: Soon after, I became hooked and listened to the rest of "Good Moog - Astral Animations & Komputer Kartoons". It's a really nice album to sit back to.
My favorite of his: It's the first of his things that made me look him up.

He wrote the song that's in this ancient meme as well.
Rest In Peace The only man that managed to persuade me to buy moogs on ebay. Oh and he composed this: "So you want a car like this one? Well its your lucky day!" My favorite work of his is "Bubble Moog"
His greatest song:
I fell in love with his catchy and humorous music years ago, and it saddens me to see him go. I wonder if he realized how popular his music was getting again despite being made so long ago.
