I'm looking for something to record from my TV(christmas or my birthday, since they are 3 days apart:clint:), and put it on my PC to put up on youtube and such. I know you need a TV Tuner/Capture card, but what is the most simplest thing you have to buy/cheapest thing that works well to record? I'm not very experienced with this stuff. :eng99: EDIT: This seems to be the best way: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IpuqCzu6SN8

couldn't you just get a TV tuner card for your computer then move the coaxial wire from the back of your TV/cable box and to your computer? If you get the MCE for Media Center, you can just record the TV and convert the ms-dvr files to regular files (google). Plus TV tuner cards are generally cheaper.

Windows Media Center is more for watching TV and scheduling recordings, the software that comes with the card/box is usually decent, especially for the $100 range. You also don't have to convert the ms-DVR files as you will probably have a choice in format when you use most of the included programs. Cards are somewhat cheaper, though the USB/Firewire tuners are a little more flexible; you can move them around to different computers and use them with laptops. Don't forget to check lots of reviews!
