Welcome... to another edition of some awesome album threads.
I want concept albums. If you can't tell the difference between one being a concept and another just being a bunch of songs about the moon on an album, then bugger off to the dark side.

Some people mistake the album for being just an ordinary Contemporary R&B album that is surprisingly uplifting.
Its definitely a concept album that through me into the Wall.
I had to give it a few listens to fully understand the concept, I can't really express my sergeantfull interpretation as it will tell people what to think like a lonely heart, rather than giving them freedom to realise the club what it is about in the band.
This doesn't mean I don't want to spoil it, I just want you to think a bit. People may disregard it if they wish, but its not fair for people to judge that thinking like this is a sign that you are Mad. Villain, I am not. I am simply trying to get the insight of the computer of the album, OK?
This whole idea, is about great songwriting twinned with sub-plotting in between. It takes a while to understand, but I see reviews not getting the idea, I mean... What's going on?
:smug:
Oh, where do I start?
Porcupine Tree - The Incident

Prog rock album based on an incident where a group of people were held hostage by a religious cult.
Opeth - Still Life

Metal album based off love, religion and awesome growling vocals. Some nice calming tracks too, such as "Benighted".
Jethro Tull - A Passion Play

The story of a dead guy's travels through the afterlife.
Probably my three favourites. I love concept albums. Also, that Archandroid album cover reminds me of Metropolis. I'm not into really into that genre, but I'll give it a listen.
Guess I'll bugger off then. Oh well, one day I'll truly learn about albums, I've just never known much about albums because of the situation I used to be in; Pre-teen listening to old blues from way before my time.

Also, technically The Incident is based on many different "incident's" as opposed to a singular event. It's much more of a literal "concept" album (as in, an album with a central concept which Porcupine Tree do a lot of ie. In Absentia) than what we traditionally call a concept album, which is more of a story told through music.
At least that's what I got from The Incident :v:

Have a closer read to the O.P.

I still don't understand what a concept album is.
It's probably my english failing me.

Totally agree. A definite "must-listen".
I was gonna post it, but I thought it was too obvious. :v:

Great prog/folk metal about the creation of earth and stuff from the Kalevara (Finnish book of lore)
Definitely better than the christian story of creation, much more badass :v:

Mick Henneyof Anaal Nathrakh's first solo album. Although this isn't black metal, it's a darkwave kinda thing. It's about The Divine Comedy. It also has Ulver's singer doing guest vocals in some songs :buddy:
And obviously the original concept album, The Wall by Pink Floyd.

I didn't know Skyforger was a concept album :v:
All their albums with Tomi Joutsen have been concept albums, and Tales fomr the thousand lakes
Awesome, I definitely need to listen to more of their stuff. I haven't heard much past Skyforger to be honest

I think people didn't really understand what I said fully in the O.P. There is something you have to read into, in the OP that will make sense. Forget about understanding concept albums for a second.

It's about an alcoholic married couple whose relationship never goes anywhere.

I think everyone knows the story of this album.

A concept album about small-town America. But it works so well.

Albums about the states of Michigan and Illinois. Sufjan Stevens said he was going to do all 50 states but I don't think he cares so much about it anymore.
"Nightfall in Middle Earth" - Blind Guardian

"Hospice" - The Antlers
(I will never stop posting this)

But superb albums above.

The least pretentious concept album in the world.

Or these:
Opeth - Still Life
The Sword - Warp Riders
Mastadon (any one, really)
Burzum - Filosophem
Devin Townsend - Ziltoid: The Omniscient
OH I ALMOST FORGOT :buddy:

Ziltoid the Omniscient by Devin Townsend. his latest album yet.
It's about an Alien named Ziltoid who travels to earth looking for the ultimate cup of coffee and when he is given a shoddy cheap cup of coffee he engages war with earth in a most awesome way
very good album

Prog rock album based on an incident where a group of people were held hostage by a religious cult.
.

The concept of The Incident emerged as Wilson was caught in a motorway traffic jam whilst driving past a road accident:
“There was a sign saying ‘POLICE – INCIDENT’ and everyone was slowing down to rubberneck to see what had happened... Afterwards, it struck me that ‘incident’ is a very detached word for something so destructive and traumatic for the people involved. And then I had the sensation that the spirit of someone that had died in the accident entered into my car and was sitting next to me.
The irony of such a cold expression for such seismic events appealed to me, and I began to pick out other ‘incidents’ reported in the media and news, I wrote about the evacuation of teenage girls from a religious cult in Texas, a family terrorizing its neighbours, a body found floating in a river by some people on a fishing trip, and more. Each song is written in the first person and tries to humanize the detached media reportage.”

Not saying you are explicitly wrong, but where exactly did you gather that info?

Duke is a funny one really, about half the album tells the story of a performer's rise to fame and eventual decline (the tracks "Behind The Lines", "Duchess", "Guide Vocal", "Turn It On Again", "Duke's Travels" and "Duke's End"), but it's split up by the pop songs ("Man Of Our Times", "Misunderstanding", "Heathaze", "Cul-de-sac", "Alone Tonight" and "Please Don't Ask").
I'm really disappointed in you guys
well not really I guess for the most part this music section sucks but here

I agree that side 1 of Tarkus (the song Tarkus) is like a concept album, but I'm not sure about side 2
