Police say the owner was left "pretty bloody" after the car crashed into a safety barrier on a bridge. A suspect has been taken into police custody. The owner, 25, woke up in Kristiansand in the early hours of Wednesday when he heard his car engine firing up. He raced out, grabbed a car door-handle and refused to let go. The thief tried to shake him off by driving into the snow, but the owner clambered on to the roof of his VW Passat and clung on to the bars as the car sped off. Local police chief Jan Nesland, quoted by Norway's TV2 news, said the owner managed to hold on for several kilometres in a trip resembling something from a Hollywood action movie. The thief drove the car at up to 90km/h (56 mph), he said, but the owner managed to smash the back window with his knee and grappled with the thief before the car hit the safety barrier.
fucking hardcore guy. This man didn't want to lose his car little bit more in source, including the bruce willis comment
Balls of steel don't freeze.
at -17C
Fucking nope. Glad he survived.
I love my car a lot. I don't love my car -17C.

How do you even manage this while being on the roof. Must have looked fucking mental to any passers-by in the middle of the night

The back window nonetheless. Aren't those usually laminated or something?
The back window nonetheless. Aren't those usually laminated or something?
They're easier to break then the front or side windows on most. Back windows are designed to outright shatter. Rear windows are usually safety glass that shatters into a few thousand pieces if it even slightly cracks. Passat are nice cars, I have one. I can see why he tried to save it. Too bad the car is probably totaled now.
With these temperatures I'm surprised he didn't freeze stuck to the roof.
He just secured himself a nice seat in Valhalla.
Just like a true Nord

This man is a true warrior
The back window nonetheless. Aren't those usually laminated or something?
I work with car glass. Side and rear windows on cars are made from tempered glass. So when they break, they break into literally thousands of little pieces. It's to prevent cuts from glass shards in the event of a crash. It flies everywhere when broken, but in tiny cube-like pieces, not big shards. Laminated glass is to pains of glass essentially glued together with a plastic film in between. It strengthens the glass a lot but also keeps it together when it's broken. If you completely crush a windshield you will be left with what looks a bit like a blanket of broken glass stuck together. Normally only the front windshield is made from laminated glass because it's getting way more abuse from small rocks, weather, ect while driving.
Something similar happened here about a year ago. Though it was by a master gopnik instead of a viking
Maybe he just couldn't let go because of frozen hands...
Guess he has secured his place in valhala, after all he defended his property from plunderers in naught but his loincloth, even though he failed to save his property he extracted his vengeance by beating the crap out of the guy nearly naked, and that guys going to get so much shit in prison for it
