I'm going to guy Need for Speed Hot Pursuit this weekend to my PC but i hate to drive with my keyboard so i'm thinking of a controller.
What i know so does bouth work in a computer but whish should i take?
The price does really not matters.
Xbox as most games support it without any setup.
What OS?
The PS3 controller is better for racing games, but if you have Windows 7 it's kind of a bitch as everytime during POST/boot you have to disable USB signing (i think that's what it was, anyway.
but the easiest, bitch free thing to do is just get a wired 360 controller. if you already have a wireless 360 controller, you can get the wireless controller adapter, i think that's about $20 or $30.
I have windows 7 64-bit. So a 360 is better?

I'd go with the 360 controller. Having Windows Driver Signing disabled leaves a nasty ass watermark, and currently the drivers for the PS3 Sixaxis/ Dualshock tend to cause a Blue Screen if you unplug it at times.
i'm not really sure why microsoft did that, with the USB driver signing, as it works flawlessly in Vista, 64 or 32-bit, better than it does in XP

the guy that made the ps3 driver got the drivers signed now, so there is no need for that anymore.
link to that shit? because using a 360 controller for emulators is terrible
360, no doubt.
And protip for you: http://priceangels.com/Genuine_Microsoft_Wired_Game_Controller_for_Xbox_360__OEM_Pack__p909.html
Ordered a new 360 controller there. It's a DealExtreme-like site.
where the fuck does it cost $93

You only have to disable driver signing once.
no, you don't/didn't. it had to be done every time you boot up. of course if you never shut down you only have to do it once, unless the one that required disabling had changed since i last used it.
Uh, you just hit disable driver signing in the boot menu. Then it's disabled until you go back into said boot menu and enable it.
it re-enables itself every time you boot

it's something the OS really wants enabled

thats only with x64, the drivers do have issues like sometimes if you unplug the controler it'll BSOD, but it can emmulate all the functions of an xbox controler, including force feedback
Easiest is 360 controller, best is PS3 controller.

I don't know, I actually like the xbox controller the best. The PS3 one has not improved in the slightest since PS2, but the 360 one is really comfy.
Also, they are actually ridiculously overpriced like you wouldn't believe.

For 40 bucks and free shipping it's perfect. I actually use it for need for speed hot pursuit. Although the game sucks and has very unrealistic driving, it works good.
I don't know, I actually like the xbox controller the best. The PS3 one has not improved in the slightest since PS2, but the 360 one is really comfy.
first, the reason i said that is because the D-Pad on the 360 controller is absolutely garbage because Nintendo and Sony both hold patents to the only two ways to actually make a D-Pad work. if you're going to be using a GameCube/Wii, DS, SNES, NES, SEGA, DreamCast, PS, or PS2 emulator, you REALLY REALLY need that D-Pad. also, you will need pressure sensitivity for a lot of PS2 games, which IIRC there is actually a plug-in for that for PCSX2.
then the rest (and that)
the 360 controller was designed with really only shooters in mind. the Dual-Shock was designed with every type of game in mind, so it's actually good for every game. even in just tech specs the Dual-Shock 3/SIXAXIS is better as everything aside for L3 and R3 are pressure sensitive, on the 360 controller just the triggers are pressure sensitive. many people who have been playing games their whole life will usually agree - while the 360 controller is best for shooters, the PlayStation controllers are better for everything else and still actually pretty good for shooters. and again the D-Pad on the 360 controller is a joke, even the new one with the gimmicky rotatable D-Pad, still broken.
the Dual-Shock line hasn't changed much because there's never been any need to. i would say that the only reason the original XBox controller got phased out for the Controller S is because the original controller was garbage. the Controller S was/is perfect and aside for shoulder buttons there really wasn't any ultimate need for Microsoft to change it for the 360 aside for wireless.
Nintendo on the other hand has decided to re-invent the wheel with every console since the N64 and I'm really not a huge fan of that. change isn't bad, change can be good, in example the much needed Controller S for the XBox, but going from the SNES controller to the N64 controller, what?! and then the gamecube controller, where they changed it all YET AGAIN. and then here comes the Wii, i'd rather not get started on the Wii.
of course all of this regarding Nintendo is purely for discussion, the actual subject is Dual-Shock 3 vs 360 controller, and I still feel that collectively the Dual-Shock 3 is a better controller to use with a PC.
and the fact that the 360 controller, as the controller S, was/were designed for FPS games (and is factual) is meaningless as he's using it with a PC and i'm sure he prefers mouse and keyboard for FPS games
Also, they are actually ridiculously overpriced like you wouldn't believe.

The 360 controller is so comfortable and is supported by many more things (Due to Games for Windows Live, really)
[editline]19th November 2010[/editline]
I was too cheap to buy a 360 controller though so I got a $25 Logitech PS2 one. It's aight
It's really all about favouritism, my favourite controller by far is the 360's one, it feels far more ergonomic.

The support thing isn't really an issue, as the PS3 controller drivers have an option to emulate a 360 controller
It's really all about favouritism, my favourite controller by far is the 360's one, it feels far more ergonomic.
for me it honestly is not just favoritism.
The new PS3 drivers are actually very good now. I haven't BSoD'd yet on Win7 64, and they are working flawlessly. if you prefer/ have a PS3 controller, get MotionJoy. It can emulate the 360 inputs too i think.
It's really up to your preference. 360 controller obviously integrates automatically with a lot of Xbox ports, so that's a plus.

The watermark can be removed with a unofficial patch, and the watermark isn't that big.

If i plug that into my computer (windows vista) will it work?
Yes.
Straight away? I don't need any drivers?
it will probably automatically download drivers, if not you can pull them off of the Microsoft website, they don't come with the disc anymore (mine did, but they don't anymore), but there's no point as the .exe is about 2mb anyway
PS3
Better analogue sticks (not the stick itself, the actual technology, it gives a higher resolution output)
Pressure Sensitive buttons (for example if you hate trigger drive (like I do) but still want control over accelleration)
MotionInJoy does everything a 360 controller would do (such as games with native 360 controller support) with the PS3 controller and more (such as using sixaxis and stuff)
Oh and you get a dpad that isn't shit, and if you have bluetooth you can connect it wirelessly.
[editline]20th November 2010[/editline]
oh and since everyone's complaining about it, the unplugging bluescreen has been fixed.

I love them because of this. I can just have one for my ps3 and one for my computer. I can even have one connected to my phone for a ps1 emulator.
I really hate the 360 controllers because the buttons don't feel too great but maybe its just because i love the ps2 controller so much.
