BURLINGTON, Vt. – U.S. Sen. Bernie Sanders on Saturday called on Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder to resign for his administration’s failure to deal with a lead-poisoning crisis that has sickened thousands of children in Flint, Michigan.
“There are no excuses. The governor long ago knew about the lead in Flint’s water. He did nothing. As a result, hundreds of children were poisoned. Thousands may have been exposed to potential brain damage from lead. Gov. Snyder should resign,” Sanders said.
Problems with Flint’s public water system date to a decision nearly two years ago by a receiver, appointed by the governor, who decided to cut costs by drawing the city’s drinking water from the polluted Flint River instead of from Lake Huron.
The governor and other state officials knew – but did not acknowledge until last fall – that the river water was corroding pipes and causing lead to leach into the drinking water. The decision not to add chemicals to prevent corrosion of the pipes was made at the direction of the governor’s Department of Environmental Quality. The state health department in Michigan apparently knew about elevated lead levels in the blood of children but did not warn the public.
Is it state government who can enact the emergency economic managers?
Cause I was gonna say that's some fucked up fingerprinting, since it was the retarded economic crisis manager that fucked up the water supply.

Now that's irony.
there is a lot of fuckery on several levels here- the governor is in trouble if these individuals relayed info to him, or were appointed by him. the people who withheld info are also asshats, though.
This was all handled under the Emergency Manager who was appointed by the governor. Snyder stepped in and essentially took control of a ton of cities with his managers and this is what happened in Flint. It's ridiculous. To add to this, the state knew about all of the toxins in the water and didn't just do nothing to help the matter, but in fact tried to discredit those who came forward about the lead. Regardless of who acted under who, this was all handled by those who he had appointed and he should take responsibility for it.
State government corruption to a s̶o̶m̶e̶w̶h̶a̶t entirely whole new level.
I know it's a slightly bit off topic, but when I read Sanders comments on just about anything, I can hear his voice saying them in his cadence
I can just hear him saying these things to the governor in person
but why the fuck what do they gain from this?

Seems (to me) that the budget issue was a bigger concern for public officials (the gov'ner) than was the issue of public health. Politics as usual
