One of the brothers who died in the double-drowning in a Carr Settlement pond Thursday may have been trying to rescue the other. Leander Troyer, 7, and his brother, Jethro, 9, died in a recently made-pond on the family’s Tyndall Road farm. According to Carr Fire Department Fire Chief Bruce Burke, one of the boys may have fallen in the pond and the other tried to save him. MCP was told by a Carr area resident that the children were found by family, who took them out of the pond and attempted to revive them while rescuers were en-route. The children still had their clothes on when they were taken out of the pond.

I know the father of this family. I hope he is doing okay, they still don't know the exact details of how they drowned.
Jesus Christ that's terrible, that's one of my biggest fears of how to die. I can't imagine how horrible the 2 kids parents and sibilings are feeling right now.
Are you ok?? I heard this story was related to you somehow
Why'd you do it, OP?
The fact they suspect one may have drowned trying to save the other just makes this so much more sad

The children still had their clothes on when they were taken out of the pond.

why'd you bold this
is this some important clue or something because it seems like what you'd expect?
Someone was murdered three states over from me.
thing happens nearer to my house than other things, better post it just to let everyone who it didn't happen near know!!!

Well, it means they probably weren't bathing in it.
Holy shit, near YOUR house? Thanks for telling us that OP!
With all due respect do we really need threads on things like this that are posted because it was "close to someone"?
With all due respect do we really need threads on things like this that are posted because it was "close to someone"?
Well, I guess it's okay to say in the OP, but it doesn't have to be the title. Have title be "Two kids drown in pond, everyone now sad", then the article quote in the post, followed by source-link, followed by "Happened right by my house. I'm sad."
Holy shit am I the only person who doesn't have a problem with him mentioning his proximity? Jesus Christ people...
I remember in swim school, where in one test we were suppose to swim with full clothing.
It really drains the power out of you.
Holy shit am I the only person who doesn't have a problem with him mentioning his proximity? Jesus Christ people...
well that really isnt it, its more like this shit happens everyday everywhere so....
Mentioning your proximity, especially for something so minor, is quite silly and just looks like you're trying to get attention.

this article wouldn't have been posted here by anyone if not for the fact it happens to have happened near a guy
must be below his quota of friendlies

It's hardly an issue
Any time that something has happened nearby to a Facepuncher's home - whether a bombing in Israel or a shooting in the US - they've mentioned their proximity and, if appropriate to the situation, their personal connection to those involved.
Remember this is a forum not a formal newspaper. We colloquial as fuck
That is dreadful.

why do all these disasters happen near you hmmm
-snip-
all disasters, crimes and other events happen on the same planet as every OP in the entirety of SH
clearly all those scumbags are just making threads for attention
I'm actually glad they weren't only children. I always feel the saddest when the only children, of parents who are possibly getting too old to have another child, die in an accident, leaving them with no one to take care of them.
There was that one thread where some guy was high/had drugs on him, some people crashed into a tree or something and he ditched them because he didn't want to be caught by the police (or something to that effect). Then he tried to victimize himself by saying that he'll have to live with feelings or some shit.
To be honest there's no problem with posting news about people who have met their misfortune near you, it's the perceived attitude behind it that bothers me.
just gonna -snip- this little bit here
Should have saved them from the burning car!!!!
Err... Drowning water!!!

This OP is fine by the way, it's just the "near my house" thing in the title.
If you didn't realize it is the same person

You asshole, that was me. I was not 'victimizing' myself either. I didn't ditch anybody you twat. There were already people at the scene, you're another stupid armchair hero....

Two young children drowning to death is minor?
Mentioning your proximity, especially for something so minor, is quite silly and just looks like you're trying to get attention.
Two dead kids, minor, everyday occurrence!
Poorly trained police officers empty their magazines and only achieve one hit? Wow that's... wow! You lived near THAT?, PLEASE SIGN MY GLOCK.
Fuck you, attention seeking is different than mentioning a story that you're involved in by knowing the father of the children and living in the community. OP didn't mention that he was leaving his pillow wet each night by crying himself to sleep. I wouldn't even had said anything had you not undermined the severity of two children having accidental deaths. Okay, he didn't have to mention where he lived but it's not something you should care about.
People are so fucking critical on this website, and I feel like it's getting much worse.
