It's kind of that time of the year again, when us hopeful young whippersnappers apply to universities and hope we achieve the results later in the year that we need, so that our lives aren't ruined before they truly start!
With that said, let's talk about where we're applying/hoping to go at the end of this year! Let's keep it to the UK to make things simpler, but if you're applying from somewhere else to study here, then join in!
So: What are you wanting to study? Where? Do you have offers? What are they?
I'm personally hoping to study Computer Science at City University, London, this September! Got an offer for 320 tariff points, so now all that remains is to not fuck up and get the grades I need!
Your turn!
Well first off I'm not from the UK, but I'm posting anyway hehe.
I'm pretty sure I'm going to take the 5 year Computer Science programme at Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) here in Sweden. My grades are quite good. I'm still not 100 percent sure what I will get, but I'm quite confident that it will be among the top 90 percentile. Which means that I also have a chance to get into an Engineering Physics programme at KTH, but that's my secret dream. I'll be fine with Computer Science.
If I get into the Computer Science programme I'm aiming for two year Human and Computer Interaction for the Master degree.
If I get into the Engineering Physics programme I'm aiming for Aerospace Engineering or Theoretical Physics.
I have been quite lazy during high school, so I really really need to work harder during the Uni.

Enough bragging :)
Hopefully I'll be joining one of 5 UK Unis I picked this year, doing all roughly similar courses (All involving electronic engineering)
It just comes down to how well I do in these last few exams...predicted A's but, Physics is just getting ridiculous now, as I'm sure anyone doing the same subject at AS/A2 level will agree
Two Offers at the moment, and interviews at them all
Both offers are for AAB
I can only slightly screw up one exam, the way I see it :ohdear:
Classics at Manchester
Ancient History at Reading
I've recently sent my UCAS to join Glamorgan University for Arts&Animation and Derby University, Glamorgan have already rejected my offer... :crying:
Also I find £21 expensive to send of a UCAS application, but then theres the price of the Uni itself.

Good work Swebonny! To have graduated at KTH sure makes it easier to get a job, and you get something to brag about ;)
I'm going to have to go Komvux this autumn. :(
And I am thoroughly sick of that UCAS logo by now...
I ended up writing 29 personal statements (Not from scratch, but re-written)
University of Manchester
University of York
University of Edinburgh
University of Central Lancashire
Got offers from Manchester and UCLAN, nothing back from York yet. Hoping to go to Manchester.

What are you applying for at York?
Computer Science at all of them except Edinburgh.
I have offers from Nottingham and Warwick to do physics. <:D
Both AAB
Got offer from Southampton, Sheffield, Bath, Newcastle and York for comp sci.

Classics rocks as I'm sure you know, that'll be awesome.
Ahh yes, Ucas. I applied a couple of years ago, was ill in 3 of my major exams and fucked it up..... But i think i'll do just fine without Uni.

Did you not apply for special dispensation from your universities?
Dont get me started about UCAS, I was one of the lucky ones who got accepted to a few unis, and the process went smoothly, it doesnt stop UCAS from being a horrible service to use, especially when paying so much!

It's been perfectly fine for me - what wasn't good about it for you?

I tried it all but to no avail, they phoned and said to try again next year but the school was gay, so i left and am now working and is looking promising quite frankly, so in a way i'm glad. But i will miss out on the Uni experience :(

What are some good uni's for Computer science in the UK?
Did quite poor in my exams last summer but got into a course I ended up not liking (Creative Multimedia). Dropped out at the start of January and applied for Photography courses through UCAS, been rejected twice, once because being 20 ucas points short is a big deal I guess. I have enough points for the rest of them so I just need to wait.

I thought UCAS service was actually really simple and clear, while also providing help
The website is horrible with a horrible layout, and of course we are forced to use it.
I'll be applying in a couple of years, it doesn't look like I'll have good chances, there's an average of 20% offer rate on the courses I want. Let's hope i don't fuck up my GCSEs this summer.
I ruined my life before it began by not getting in last year. :smith:
But I worked hard this year and reapplied and so far I have an "Invitation" for Liverpool John Moores University, which I hope is "Invitation to Interview" :unsmith:
But yeah, I've applied for Foundation Art Course at Glasgow School of Art, Dundee, Robert Gordons and Leeds and Graphic design and Illustration at Liverpool.
Good luck to everyone this year, and don't fuck up your Highers (Or GCSE) like I did.

It is? I thought it was pretty fine to be honest, I didn't have any problems at all.
If you think UCAS is bad, you are going to adore the student finance website.
And good luck everyone! I remember going through UCAS, it's nerve-wracking to say the least, but I'm sure you'll all do fine. Maybe.
Conditional for Comp Sci at Aberystwyth.
Taking their scholarship exam on Thursday, if I do well on that then It'll be an unconditional and some money thrown at me.

Oh hey that's the exact course I'm doing. Unless you're going on a postgraduate course that is
