White House officials said Mr Obama would provide details of his proposal on Monday when he reveals his long-term plan to reduce the budget deficit. Reports say the proposal is to be called the Buffett Rule, after the billionaire investor Warren Buffett. Mr Buffett says loopholes mean the richest pay relatively less tax. This is because earnings from investments are taxed at lower rates than wages. The proposed new tax would affect Americans who earn more than $1m a year. The proposal is likely to meet a strong challenge in Congress, where Republicans have said they oppose any tax increases. The US economy has been growing only slowly while the unemployment rate remains stubbornly high, above 9%. Facing an election next year, Mr Obama has had a battle in Congress over how to reduce the ballooning deficit while the economy remains stagnant. A Congressional "supercommittee" of six Republicans and six Democrats has been charged with finding steep reductions in the deficit by late November, when automatic cuts come into force. We already know what Fox is going to do with this
It won't make it past Congress, of course.

This better go through. I'm tired of rich people paying less taxes than poors.
job makers trickling down et cetera joke
I'd post the image macro, but you already know.

Even Republicans would have a tough time buying that.
Boehner said the panel has "only one option, spending cuts and entitlement reforms," a reference to massive federal benefit programs such as Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.
Except if it's military spending, you hypocritical orange swine.
Call for Duties: Class Warfare.
Get out your caviar gun and shoot those poor people the hell up.
haha the speaker of the house's name sounds like "boner." and no it aint fuckin "Bay-Nore," there ain't a god damn A and there ain't a god damn I in that name. It's Boner.
My question is: why do the rich have to pay less taxes anyway? Did I get something wrong? I never got around that...
haha the speaker of the house's name sounds like "boner." and no it aint fuckin "Bay-Nore," there ain't a god damn A and there ain't a god damn I in that name. It's Boner.
Rich people are too good to say such a dirty word.
Shit, we've made a US politics thread, the siren call of the dangerous, and idiotic species known as Glaberius Republicas
I would have thought a lower investment profit tax rate was due to investments and business' paying tax too, if they weren't then I'm sure it would be higher anyway.. Plus if people can find tax loopholes in their own country what's to say that this new tax won't be avoided by the wealthy by them leaving the country or using off-shore accounts, then there's yet another problem
haha the speaker of the house's name sounds like "boner." and no it aint fuckin "Bay-Nore," there ain't a god damn A and there ain't a god damn I in that name. It's Boner.
Imagine if his wife's name was Lady.

I thought the title said he was gonna tax atheists.
My question is: why do the rich have to pay less taxes anyway? Did I get something wrong? I never got around that...
Because the tax code is so convoluted it's incredibly easy to get around paying a lot of your taxes.
Almost any respectable wealthy person would gladly pay their taxes to help their fellow man. They aren't all greedy assholes as they're portrayed by the media.
Almost any respectable wealthy person would gladly pay their taxes to help their fellow man. They aren't all greedy assholes as they're portrayed by the media.
Then why do they evade it so much?
job makers trickling down et cetera joke
?
Then why do they evade it so much?
Who? Who's evading it? The oil tycoons who at the end of the day are in charge of this country?
But what is the ratio between respectable wealthy people and greedy fat-cat scumbags?
Still don't get how taxing the wealthiest is a bad thing.
Still don't get how taxing the wealthiest is a bad thing.
Because they can't afford that extra servant. Meanwhile somebody else can finally afford to eat.
Still don't get how taxing the wealthiest is a bad thing.
You're not supposed to. You're supposed to be opposing the republican uneducated majority that never had any money to begin with so they don't understand what it's like.
Who? Who's evading it? The oil tycoons who at the end of the day are in charge of this country?
The effective tax rate for the rich is around 20 some percent. They are purposely using loopholes to cut the taxes they pay in half. This isn't just oil tycoons, this is just about every rich dude.
