• Blue screen on start up (how to install os using USB)
    24 replies, posted
Just got computer working after 2 years no mobo new CPU new gpu. Started fine first time however mouse and keyboard didn't work so I reset comp now getting blue screen or stuck at "starting windows". Just shoot me. Memory diagnostic says there's a hardware problem but hd is spinning I can feel it. I'm like 80% it's the hd and I have another one but it has no os on it... I'm curious how I could get an os into that hd without a disc. Like USB maybe. And also how to do that. I assume I'd go to boot options and boot from USB???? That is if I have to use that hd I'd prefer to use current hd tho. Pls help. TLDR: how to install os using USB?
If you want to install an OS via USB, get an ISO of the installation media and use Rufus to make a bootable flash drive. [url]https://rufus.akeo.ie/[/url]
So my mess on the hd is fried? ( not so retrievable)
[QUOTE=asrele;52014241]So my mess on the hd is fried? ( not so retrievable)[/QUOTE] Its a possibility. Do you know what the stop code (BCC) is? If you press F8 after BIOS/POST will open your advanced boot options. Select "Disable Automatic Reboot on system failure" You will see a BCC (it'll look like 0x000000ED) on the blue screen.
[QUOTE=asrele;52014241]So my mess on the hd is fried? ( not so retrievable)[/QUOTE] Windows Memory Diagnostic is really a bad diagnostic tool. If you suspect bad hardware, you should use other tools to diagnose the hardware. Hirens has pretty much every tool needed to diagnose bad hardware: [url]http://www.hirensbootcd.org/download/[/url] But like Richard Simmons said, knowing the stop code will generally tell us why Windows isn't starting properly.
Ok I'll try to get it for you it's gonna take a bit to get to the boot menu thing because it keeps wanting to go to startup repair. [editline]26th March 2017[/editline] 0x000000f4 I believe
STOP 0x000000F4 usually means that a critical Windows process has unexpectedly stopped. According to Microsoft, the most common cause of this BSOD is bad memory or a corrupt/bad hard drive. I would get Hirens and run Memtest and use something like Victoria to check the S.M.A.R.T. data on the hard drive to see if its failing.
0x000000d1 also [editline]26th March 2017[/editline] Best be the would be to buy new hd huh? It's a brand new 8gb stick of ram [editline]26th March 2017[/editline] Bet even* [editline]26th March 2017[/editline] Hey also I got to advanced options however I doubt safe mode will work [editline]26th March 2017[/editline] Yeah no safe mode. I'm just gonna try going down the list [editline]26th March 2017[/editline] Just got a blue screen 0000001a [editline]26th March 2017[/editline] :suicide:
[QUOTE=asrele;52016294]0x000000d1 also[/quote] IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL [QUOTE=asrele;52016294]Best be the would be to buy new hd huh? It's a brand new 8gb stick of ram[/quote] Hard drive =/= 8 GB stick of RAM. [QUOTE=asrele;52016294]Just got a blue screen 0000001a[/quote] Page fault in non-paged area. Sounds like bad RAM.
Doa ram? [editline]26th March 2017[/editline] I'll try to find another stick [editline]26th March 2017[/editline] I got another bs 0000008E
The Windows Memory diagnostic only checks for bad RAM. The stop codes that you have been giving us are related to the RAM, not the hard drive. Take out all RAM and try each stick of RAM separately, one in each slot. If the computer fully boots in to Windows, then you can figure out which stick of RAM is not functioning, or possibly the DIMM slot not functioning. Use testing software such as Memtest86 or Hirens Boot CD listed above If it's the RAM, look towards replacing that first. If it's still giving problems, it's the board.
I put a new stick of ram in and a new screen popped up before blue screen aurochs program not found [editline]26th March 2017[/editline] Is it possible problems are occurring from the 5 year old code generator I used on the os? [editline]26th March 2017[/editline] Autochk even or something along the lines of that

Yeah that
[QUOTE=asrele;52016987]Yeah that[/QUOTE] Well, congratulations on admitting you warez'd Windows. [IMG]https://i.sn3p.top/dhauS.png[/IMG] oh, that's nice.
Well. Whatever I can do to get to this solution man [editline]26th March 2017[/editline] Mobo is picking up ram. Like the ram works I don't understand what's wrong if I have the same problem with a different stick of ram I guess I'll try to stick my brothers hd in this piece and see what happens. But I'm beginning to think I have to reinstall the os somehow [editline]26th March 2017[/editline] Mobo is picking up ram. Holy rap I got into safe mode without blue screen
New hdd no bs while installing windows
Have you tried not pirating windows?
Really no excuse for pirating Windows anymore, you can pick up Windows 7 keys on Hardforum for under $40 which lets you upgrade to Windows 8.1 or 10 for free. But just to let the OP know, I won't be helping you anymore now that I know you have pirated software. For all we know you could have gotten infected installation media in addition to being illegal.

And, OP, its generally best to NOT admit you stole stuff/use software illegally.

[QUOTE=asrele;52025082]ueah I'm bout to buy the key now that it's not 100$+ [editline]28th March 2017[/editline] For some reason I can't get windows to install on new hd... no bs tho. So that's good. Is there a way I can get a downloadable copy and key for windows 7? I can't find is on any sites. And idk what sites are trusted... I don't wanna pay for windows 7 n it be a busted copy[/QUOTE] Windows 7 is no longer sold. Basically anywhere. You can get an OEM copy which legally cannot be used on a personally-use PC but it will cost $100+. Use Windows 10 or Linux. In fact, you should have just used Linux to test the drive so we could actually have continued to help you, but you admitted to pirating Windows, which is why nobody is helping you.
[QUOTE=Snowmew;52025541]Windows 7 is no longer sold. Basically anywhere.[/QUOTE] Newegg still has a limited stock remaining: [url]https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16832416804&ignorebbr=1&cm_re=windows_7-_-32-416-804-_-Product[/url] [QUOTE=Snowmew;52025541]legally cannot be used on a personally-use PC but it will cost $100+.[/QUOTE] OEM has nothing to do with how the PC is used, it's intended for "newly built" PCs, which can mean anything really. You can take a pile of old parts and throw them together and you have a newly built PC, or take two PCs and swap all of the parts and have two newly built PCs. There aren't many stipulations as to what "newly built" means in the EULA. The $139.99 cost hasn't changed in years, you can't get Windows 7 home anymore though.

You would need to distribute the system with Windows pre-installed using the OPK to the end user, and the end user cannot have the OPK itself. So there is no legal way to install it yourself. Simple.
