• Random Inconsistant FPS Drops

Despite always upgrading my computers over the years, I've never actually gotten to play with a smooth fps. In any game I play if I stand still but watch a bunch of stuff happen, only tiny fps drops because of the gunfire, explosions, ect. But the second I start moving, sometimes it just hangs up for around 3-5 seconds at a time, but sometimes it doesn't, it seems to randomly do it. Like if I'm playing something in third person, moving the character but not the camera seems to work fine, but the second the camera turns I have to sometimes wait 6 seconds at a time for it to become unfrozen, even if the area I'm turning to isn't that graphically intensive. I'm puzzled, I don't run that much stuff at the same time, only NOD32 Anti Virus, some logitech drivers, Steam and occasionally Skype. My System Specifications are: Windows 7 - 64 Bit Motherboard - Some Asrock 64bit motherboard Central Processor - Intel Core2 Quad @ 2.33GHz Graphics Processor - Nvidia GTX 470 RAM - 4 GB DDR2 (Only 3.25 usable apparently) Power Supply - 500 Watt Hard Drive - 1TB (Not sure about it's read/write speeds) I'm almost certain I don't have any viruses, the few times I've actually stumbled upon one, it was automatically removed and the only way I knew about it was because of the warning I got. I'm not sure if I have something really outdated, or if I was mislead to buy a part when I should have gotten something entirely different. I hope someone here can help me, because if no one can, I'm just going to end up formatting.
Are you sure you have 64-bit? Since you can only use 3.25GB makes me think you have 32-bit. Anyways, re-install your graphics drivers from HERE and let us know what happens.
About the 3,25 GB usable, go into BIOS and enable memory remapping.
I enabled memory remapping and now I have 4GB's of RAM usable. I know that I am running Windows 7 64bit, and I'm almost certain my Motherboard supports it, for when I purchased my processor they sold me it with a supporting motherboard and the "appropriate" Operating system, in this case a 64bit Win7. I will test and see if stuff runs smoother right now. Do my specs seem like they should run stuff smoothly? Because if not, please tell me what is holding me back.
Yeah those specs are just fine. If anything the CPU, and I use this word cautiously, might be holding you back depending on if the games you play support multiple cores. I doubt it, though. Like... highly doubt it. [editline]7th November 2010[/editline] Also, you could try running it in a window with performance monitor open in order to see any spikes in hardware usage.
Do you know a name for any performance monitoring software?
CPU bottleneck
I've ran the program, and my cpu seems to be going at around 55% never to high, my Ram usage is nearing 50%, hard drive barely is being used at all, and network in and out is what you would expect it to be. My Video card on the other hand seems to be running at 75*c most of the time and I'm getting a constant 30 fps until I move my mouse around. I have vertical sync off, but do you think it could be my monitor holding me back? It's not a new monitor, it's a 4:3 aspect ratio lcd monitor with 60ghz refresh rate.
BOTTLE NECK @ CPU /c fermis also idle at high temps, the on on the bottom of my setup idles at 64, but I use MSi after burner to crank my fan speeds.
The CPU Rating is a tad low.
Processes running in the background?
