WASHINGTON -- The FBI says that violent crime dropped 6 percent in 2010, marking the fourth straight year of declines.
New statistics also show that property crimes were down for the eighth straight year, falling 2.7 percent.
Nationwide, there were an estimated 1.2 million violent crimes in 2010 and an estimated 9 million property crimes.
Robbery fell 10 percent, rape dropped 5 percent, and murder, non-negligent manslaughter and aggravated assault fell more than 4 percent.
Each of the property crime offenses decreased in 2010. The largest decline, 7.4 percent, was for motor vehicle thefts.
Burglaries decreased 2 percent and larceny-thefts declined 2.4 percent.

So, the US is getting safer statistically but not morally.

Tell me, soccer moms, why can't we blame this on video games?

They are too busy sitting inside playing games to go out and break shit
And who knows when the numbers go rising up again..
Also statistics don't really speak much of the reality in some really harsh places.
Gun ownership skyrockets, violent crime goes down. Correlation or coincidence?
I find this news very ironic.
Wait, how does that work? If it's per capita, wouldn't that mean that crime has stayed the same, there are just more people?

More people not committing crimes.
Wait, how does that work? If it's per capita, wouldn't that mean that crime has stayed the same, there are just more people?
You can't really assume that, as the population increases, the number of criminals does not at all.
Gun ownership skyrockets, violent crime goes down. Correlation or coincidence?
Maybe people will understand that guns don't make people into serial killers.

At least the ratio has decreased.
And who knows when the numbers go rising up again..

So you'll just ignore all statistics because the numbers "might go up again" for some arbitrary reason? Don't be an idiot, numbers don't lie.
Gun ownership skyrockets, violent crime goes down. Correlation or coincidence?
Coincidence. Gun ownership has little to no effect on crime rates, either up or down.
This trend is seriously puzzling though. With unemployment staying high and more people in poverty than ever, you'd think shit would be hitting the fan, crime-wise.

uhh, who exactly has stated that guns turn people into serial killers
uhh, who exactly has stated that guns turn people into serial killers
The common stereotype that more legal guns = higher homicide rate.
People have lost all hope and grown complacent. :downs:

why are you bringing video games into this
why are you bringing video games into this
Because people say that violent video games are making us more violent.
why are you bringing video games into this
I thought that was mandatory.
I am of course talking about Satan.

Maybe they're just sitting inside getting drunk and living off benefits.
We are too busy surfing the web to go out and commit violent acts. Or anything for that matter.

What are you talking about? Pft telling how I ignore statistics why do you make up stuff that? And if you mean that the crime rates are not likely to go rising up again, then yeah you better hope so as your country has seen more than enough criminality.
