Hello, friends, I come to you, in search of books on these subjects, act appropriately in this thread;
1. Physics
2. Chemistry
3. Astronomy
4. Calculus
5. Quantum Physics
6. Politics
7. Biology
8. Anthropology
9. Business
10. History
Please, I am begging you guys to keep civil. I would like at least 3 books in each category at the end of the thread. If you guys don't deliver, it would make life a lot harder for me. For you see, I wish to understand all of these subjects, and what better way than to ask the people I spend 1/4 of my day with.
I ask you, because through trial and error, people find out the goods and bads. So I was hoping you could weed out the unnecessary in this equation. Please, under a title you are most familiar with, suggest a list of few books for me to comprehend, and an explanation as to why you like each book.
Dear Facepunch, I need your views.

Alas, this thread will clearly go to waste.

Had you read the thread, smart-ass, you would realize that I'd wanted a personalized opinion on books.

Laughed at this by the way.
Well to kind of help your problem. Read "Toxic Sludge is Good for You!" and "Trust Us We're Experts!", those are great business models.
There is a book called Guns, Germs, and Steel, that gives an interesting view on prehistory, if you want to google it.
How are you going to read with your head in your ass?

V:v:V
Why don't you just stop by your book store and browse their catalog?
[editline]04:31PM[/editline]
That would be much more helpful than posting a thread in general discussion.

You need this.

You post a thread demanding books, for nothing in return, and then start being a douche to posters.
Good one.

'cept for the last suggestion, that made me chuckle.

I know a site that covers all of that:
5. Quantum Physics 6. Politics
Don't mix candy with poison.
Were not your servants
5.Quantum Physics
I suggest ''String Theory for Dummies'', I'm assuming you would little knowledge of it to start with, so that could help you understand it, and then move on to applied math based Physics textbooks.
Politics? Just watch the news. (Not Fox)
Business studies generally doesnt have many text books, so you might want to look at accounting.
Business (but more from a PR and Marketing angle):
Free Prize Inside
The Origin of Brands
Punk Rock Marketing.
None of that probably helps you but they're good books.

4. Calculus
Yeah, I put my Calculus book to good use. It's propping up my monitor, and I haven't moved it or opened it since almost two years ago.
Just go to a university, go to the bookstore and find first year books on those subjects.
a third of the book is just high school review anyway, so even if you're behind you can catch up.

It was an interesting book, but god Jared Diamond is such a boring writer.

Excellent introduction to relativity, quantum physics and superstring theory. Greene's masterful use of analogies and metaphors make even the most complicated ideas understandable.

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/170011.Neuroscience
If you're interested in neuroscience, I'd suggest reading that. It's 950 pages, and it's written for students, but judging by reviews and comments it's a book that anyone can use if they want to learn about neuroscience. I haven't actually read it yet, but it's on my to-read list!
