A huge military hovercraft has made an unexpected landing on a packed beach in Russia.
Hundreds of people were sunbathing on the beach when the vessel powered towards them.
No one was injured, although witnesses said beachgoers were surrounded by paratroopers and asked to move on.
A spokesman for the Russian defence ministry told local newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda that the hovercraft was on a tactical mission in an area owned by the military.
"Docking at the beach ... is a normal event," a spokesman was quoted as saying. "What people were doing at the beach on the territory of a military (base) is unclear."
However, the newspaper said the base the ministry was referring to was in Khmelevka, several kilometres away.
The hovercraft is believed to have been one of the Russian Navy's Zubr-type crafts, which are built in St Petersburg and can travel at speeds of up to 60 knots (110kmh, 68mph).
Holy fuck look at the size of that.
Fucking Russians do this shit all the time.
There are plenty of videos like this out there, like the tank jumping onto the highway and speeding across, and all the tanks casually rolling down the beach.

That thing looks badass as fuck.
Holy shit. I knew some of them were big, but that just blew my mind.
Holy shit I didn't think they made hovercrafts that big
Practicing for the California invasion, obviously.
Well, its the world's largest hovercraft.

And it can load up tanks and shitload of infantry. Plus the guns on that thing is nuts

Oh i wonder... :v:
At a moment there i thought the title said "Russian Navy Hovercraft lands on beach full of terrorists"
it does look badass but looks impractical as fuck in a real war
Have some more.

I wonder what would happen if someone cut a small hole in the air cushion.
"This amateur footage shows hundreds of beachgoers scrambling away from the massive defense ship"
I didn't see anyone running away, this is Russia after all
how much liters of fuel this monster eats?
Top Gear are really taking their chellenges to extremes these days...
Russia is playing some kind of IRL World in Conflict simulation.
That T-90 hurtling across the road... you should see the shit the Challengers have to do to cross a main road on Salisbury Plain. People in Hi-vis everywhere, all lights on, slow as possible.
Russias got that bit right.
Cripes, I never knew they built hovercrafts that big; it's like some sort of amphibious super-tank only without the massive cannon.
Soon...
hui balalaika
People are calling the US a police state when Russia is a living example of a military state

yes
People are calling the US a police state when Russia is a living example of a military state
It's less of a military state
and more of a "nobody gives a fuck state." Have you seen those videos with that meteor? It looks like a bomb is going off and no one gives a shit and just keeps on what their doing.
I wonder what would happen if someone cut a small hole in the air cushion.
a small amount of air would come out; and that is assuming you even manage to cut it
how much liters of fuel this monster eats?
being a hovercraft i would say relatively little compared to a conventional ship of the same size
Most of this shit happens because Russians decide to party on beaches located in military zones or drive on military highways because they're less busy.
it does look badass but looks impractical as fuck in a real war
Yeah it's much more practical to load tanks and troops into individual landing ships miles off the coast to give time for the enemy to retaliate and then drive them to coast completely defenseless.
I wonder what would happen if someone cut a small hole in the air cushion.
Nothing, it pumps much more air than a small cut would let out, that thing is made to get shoot at after all.
I wouldn't feel safe living in Russia

Didn't know we had any Russian Generals on facepunch, neat.
Those people on the beach don't even give a fuck
