My dad used to be a truck driver. He traveled all over the states delivering shit everywhere, and always brought back cool stories to tell. :buddy:
Also this thing looks scary as fuck:

Rat Semi?
My Uncle drives for UPS, always has a good story to tell from the late night runs.
And I believe that's the truck from the movie Duel.
My uncle drives for I don't know anymore. But he still drives a Semi.
He was talking about during the winter he was in New York. He noticed that all of the bridges said 10 to 12 feet, he needs 13 feet. He didn't know how to get out of town so he had to stop of at a fire department and ask for help. They told him that the signs were for when there is around a foot of snow. And they also told him about their role in fighting the fires on the Trade Centers. Fast forward two years, Katrina hit, and my uncle (Who lived in Mississippi) had fire fighters come to is door on a wellness check. It was the same people, they've all been best friends ever since. I got to meet them too.
Dad used to be a truck driver too and as I'm Norwegian he drove one of the greatest scandinavian trucks:

But I still like American trucks better :c
Even though the Scania is awesome
I'm a trucker, currently I'm driving between Sweden and Norway, it's a wonderful job and I do enjoy styled trucks, makes the job even more fun.

I have to agree to some extent. Some overdone trucks are just a bit to much. But some are just perfect!

Beautiful truck.
Looks like if you hit the breaks too hard it would go from this: L to this _| and fall flat on it's face.

The engine is mounted low so there is not much weight high up

me and my dadused to drive something like that, except less crane and more cab, and it was a bit older and different colours, couldn't find a picture that seemed more like it though. :frown:
I remember the first time I went with him we had to pickup a really heavy excavator and it broke some airline to the brakes, we had to drive most of the way home with a loud beep noise in the truck, right up until we couldn't move the trailer anymore, so we just ditched it right there on the road.
also, the acceleration of a truck without the trailer to pull. :neckbeard:

But some are just perfect!
I've driven the R730 with a totalweight of 60tons, it's a pretty cool feeling when you're climbing a hill and it keeps accelerating, but I don't think it's that fun to drive everyday due to it being Opticruise (automatic) only, so I'd go for a R500/560/620 with a 12speed gearbox, then it's more fun to drive, I promise, especially if you get straight exhaust.
Right now I'm driving a R420 with Opticruise, not that exciting, but it runs really nicely on the road, but it's too weak for Norway.
Also, this is my kind of styling.

Why do all these European trucks looks like a silly sideways L with a tumor on the end?
Why do all these European trucks looks like a silly sideways L with a tumor on the end?
Because it's efficient
Why do all these European trucks looks like a silly sideways L with a tumor on the end?
Size restrictions, smaller roads in some cities.
Why do all these European trucks looks like a silly sideways L with a tumor on the end?
Because in the U.S. you just restrict the trailerlengths and leave the tractors to be as long as they want, but here in Europe, we restrict the entire vehicles length, i.e. from the front of the truck, to the rear of the trailer, so the smaller cab, the more cargo you can haul. Ofcourse we don't all have the same length restrictions here, Sweden has 24metres for an examples, and if you fill certain criteria, you're allowed to be 25,25metres long (this 25,25 rule also applies for Finland and Holland, but aswell in Germany and Denmark, but only on certain roads).
I'm probably at risk of sounding like an idiot, but a lot of the bigger American trucks are sleeper cabs, with a bed, tv and some other stuff in the back, which is why there pretty big.
Well most of the Scanias are also sleepers, it's just that they got only two beds above each other and nothing else

I love Mercedes-Benz trucks.

Yessir. Probably feel safer with everything out in front of them. Driver also like having a huge moving house (sleeper) with everything in it because they're away from home months at a time. Cheaper than hitting up a hotel every night.

I don't see how. It's like a wind gust on a house.
18 wheels you say?

Airsuspension my boy, pretty much standard here in Europe, either you just have airsuspension on the rearaxle (So you can hitch up trailers) and then parabel on the front axle, or just airsuspension on all axles, then you can lower the truck down for shows and such. Only the roughest trucks used in the roughest conditions use parabelsuspension on every axle. So this truck is not running this low every day on the road, it's lowerd down for the show.
Also, the trucks in the background is more my style, that Volvo is hideous.
