[QUOTE]Ticket-holders have reacted angrily after Wet'n'Wild Sydney cancelled its inaugural NYE Festival with just six hours' notice.
Event organiser One Cube Entertainment said it had to cancel the festival because of "a major technical production issue" but the manager of an artist scheduled to play at the festival said the organisers had attributed the cancellation to occupational health and safety concerns raised by Wet'n'Wild.
Billed as Australia's "first ever (music) festival to be held at a water theme park", event tickets ranged from $110-$200.
The original statement said the event would be moved to Australia Day, but with the festival 95 per cent sold out, ticket-holders reacted furiously to the last-minute announcement, which left them with no alternative to celebrate the arrival of 2014.
Later in the morning, One Cube Entertainment also offered ticket-holders access to an event with the same artists at the original after-party venue, a Parramatta nightclub, but ticket-holders said the alternative event at the Roxy Hotel was not good enough.
They was no mention of refunds for ticket-holders but NSW Fair Trading said it expected the event promoter to provide a refund to people who could not attend the postponed event in January.
Tim Morris, whose son had travelled from Canberra for the festival, said the Roxy event was an "inferior" alternative.
