A man was murdered infront of several witnesses in Folkets Park, Skurup, Sweden, during the saturday afternoon.
"I could see both knives and an axe", a witness says.
The police was alerted around 16:30 (UTC+01:00) regarding a fight in central Skurup.
Several police vehicles and an ambulance were dispatched to the location, and on their way there, they're informed that a person has been fatally injured.
At 16:46, police has arrived, and they confirm that there's a dead person on location, Stephan Söderholm informant for the Skåne-district police says.
Aftonbladet has spoken to a witness who was located just a couple of meters away from the fight that led to another man's death.
"There was a group of four people standing in the park. Then suddenly a man came running towards them from across the street, and began fighting them.
They fought eachother using various weapons, I could see knives, and I'm also 99% sure I saw an axe".
When the fight broke out, the witness in question ran from the location, but returned a short while later.
"When I came back, a person was laying on the ground".
According to various reports from witnesses, the victim was kicked in the back of one of his knees, which caused him to fall to the ground. As he was laying on the ground, another person then stuck an axe into his back. A short while later, when the offenders had left the location, the man supposedly got back up on his legs, but quickly fell back down again.
Paramedics concludes that he was first beaten down to the ground. Afterwards, he was attacked with some kind of weapon aimed towards his back, causing a lethal wound.
A woman living close by suspects that she's seen the four offenders. She says that she saw them running down a side street. After a while, they came back, this time driving mopeds. Three of them drove right past, while one of them returned to the park to gather some kind of package that had been thrown into a bush.
The police has blocked off a large area of the village.
Aftonbladet has spoken to Göran Landvall, reconnaissance leader at the location.
According to reports that Aftonbladet has received, a person in the area has been taken into custody.
"This is nothing I can comment on right now. Nobody suspected of murder has been arrested as of yet".
The police have used their dogs around the area, which have marked that the suspects went down the sidestreet.

I came into the thread thinking a solo axe murderer was responsible and find that it was actually a group fight. Wonder if it was gang members fighting one another.
When I read the title, I immediately thought of Rust.
The problem in Sweden is that litteraly EVERYONE is having the bystander effect. a couple of months ago I was downtown in the city I live in and a woman got her wallet stolen in the middle of a plaza. I was too far away to help (some 200 metres.) but around her there was probably 20 people not helping at all. They were just nervously staring at eachother, hoping that someone would take action and help her.

Same thing in Finland, i've seen drunk people that have tripped and have bleeding head wounds just being ignored until someone call an ambulance 30 minutes later.

To be fair they were using weapons, and I don't think anyone without a weapon and common sense would try and interfere.
I expected knives, but an axe? Holy shit.

Thats true, but something is wrong in our society when nobody helps anyone.
One day one of these psychos will find me and give me the slowest death possible
Ax murder in public huh? In the old days they called that entertainment
Sounds like some antifa shit.
Seems like the viking blood never really stops flowing in the swedes.
2 Jamaican blokes had a pretty hellish knife fight in Manchester whilst I was there, seemed planned
blood everywhere

This is not limited to Sweden. Bystander effect is practically universal, at least in western cultures.

Don't be so quick to limit it to western groups. Remember that news blurb of the little girl run over in China?
and suddenly those killer clown pranks seem even more terrifying
I pictured some guy dressed as a viking running through the park, and decapitating the man with a battleaxe after reading the title.
Dammit Eugene you were told to be careful with that axe.
jesus christ, what happened to just shooting each other, maybe its a good thing we have such high gun crime here, at least being shot isn't so brutal
When I read the title, I immedaitely thought what a horrible situation it was and I was sad that a person was killed like that.
When I read your post I immediately thought you were being dishonest to jump onto a high horse
How can we blame bystanders for not intervening? There was clearly a dangerous and armed manned so all someone could do is call the police.

Basically my worst fear ever

Your crimes will not go unpunished

Multi-MP3 theft, and even a couple of movies. You deserve the gallows.
Probably viking day

Sure as hell not limited to Sweden. Just last night a friend from the group I was drinking with got pounced by about 8 Russians. Stood between him and those monkies. Can't stop them all though, so I wound up calling the paramedics for the poor guy as he lay there with a dislocated shoulder after the rest of my buddies crawled out of the bar and the Russians skedaddled. Got scruffed a bit myself, but shit, adrenaline's a hell of a painkiller.
Everybody else either stood way back or ran away in fear. It stands to reason that the Bystander effect pretty much only affects people who have no relation or reason (other than risking themselves to help someone) to intervene, which is understandable, really. Can't blame anyone for not risking serious injury/death for people they don't know.
