I'm seriously thinking about going back from Windows 7 to XP

I upgraded from Windows Vista to 7. Ever since then, I've been getting lower framerates in every game that I played. (Sims 3, Mass effect 2, Oblivion)
I've done every thing that I could. I've updated all of my drivers, I've tried to downgrade my drivers, but that didn't work. I've tried to set higher priority for the game's processes so that they would use more memory. Nothing worked. I've searched all over the internet for a solution, asked in many forums. I could find nothing that could help me.
Now I'm considering going back to XP. XP has never given me any problems, not as much as Vista or 7 did. As far as I know, XP consumes less system resources.
The only thing that's stopping me is that fact that I like some of the features that Windows 7 has.
UPDATE: I've decided to try and reformat my computer and reinstall Windows 7 before I do anything else.
No way. 7 uses less memory than XP. I think that this must be a different problem.
It sounds like your computer doesn't exactly surpass the recommended requirements with flying colors.
The only thing I could think of is the aero on Windows 7 but that's only if your computer is pretty bad. You could try turning that off. It's always given me higher framerates than XP or Vista.
Post your specs, we can't discern the problem without them.
Did you upgrade or did you completly reinstall the OS?
Save your stuff and reformat your computer. Upgrading never really works well.
Yeah, I agree with Dwragon82997 when I upgraded to 7 I ended up reformating and doing a full install of it because of lag, and I have a pretty up system. Also, XP isn't being updated anymore or its about to end soon, and 7/Vista have many new things beside UI tweaks which make you safer.
Read this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Security_and_safety_features_new_to_Windows_Vista , it applys to 7 also since it's based off of Vista.
Go to Vista
it's like the Halfway point

But Vista is nowhere near as good as Seven. Vista was quite mediocre, and Seven is what Vista should have been in the first place.
Evidently your PC doesn't match the requirements for W7.
What are your specs? Could you run that rating application that W7 has? The Windows Experience thingy?

Vista can't do anything other than crash constantly and take up insane amounts of RAM for no reason. It's shit.

I tell that to everyone who defends Vista as being a great OS. :chef:
Here's what I've noticed. With lower end computer, they are better at gaming on XP. On mid-high end ones, they are better on Windows 7.

Maybe you were a fucking idiot when you installed it, but I've had Vista for 3 years now and it has never crashed or eaten up RAM for the duration I've had it.
Also, Seven is way better than XP. It's like XP if it looked all shiny and new.

You should say that to anyone who says Vista is better than Seven.
Vista is a good OS. It had a few problems. God help you if something has a few problems anymore, if it's that big of a deal go work for Microsoft and program it yourselves.
Pisses me off to see "hurr vista" in near every thread.

I ran Vista for two years on a T7200 @ 2GHz with 2GB RAM and a GeForce Go 7300 with no problems, ever. It never crashed or used insane amounts of RAM. Stop being stupid and bringing up dumb points to try and make your side of the argument look more believable.

And you just lost all credibility by asking the guy to run WEI.

I even ran Vista RC on a computer with a Radeon 9600, and an old Amd Athlon I myself know it didn't suck ram or crash constantly.
Here are my specs

It is a nice laptop but the specifications of it is the culprit.
replace "going back" with "downgrading" and it will make more sense to me and you

what the fuck are you talking about that's a great laptop

You're an idiot, that's a great laptop.
You definitely surpass the requirements for W7, so I'd suggest doing a clean install of it. I've never done an upgrade, but I've heard bad stories. It couldn't hurt to try before you go back to XP, since you'd be formatting anyways.
I've personally had major issues when I upgraded from vista to 7. In the end, I still did a reformat because of all the bugs I had.
... You play sims...?
Yeah. I've been playing it since the first one came out.
Don't bitch and blame the OS if your computer wasn't designed for it in the first place

Did you even look at his specs? It should run fine.
My Core 2 Duo 2 Ghz, 2 GB RAM, intel 950 GMA, laptop ran the Windows 7 beta fine for cryin' out loud.
