[release]Leonard Nimoy has attended his final Star Trek convention.
The 80-year-old actor, best-known for playing Mr Spock in the original TV series that began in September 1966, formed four fingers into a V for Vulcan sign and intoned to fans Spock's most famous phrase: 'Live long and prosper.'
Nimoy has said the convention in suburban Chicago celebrating the 45th anniversary of Star Trek would be his last. He spoke for an hour about his life and career, and thanked fans for their support over the years. Some held signs saying: 'We love you Leonard! Live long & prosper.'
Creation Entertainment organises the Star Trek conventions. Company CEO Adam Malin says the company has toured and collaborated with Nimoy for nearly three decades and that Nimoy 'will be missed.'[/release]

I wonder why he won't go to conventions anymore? Is he tired of going, or something else...
Cause he's 80 years old.
I love this man. Truly a great human being towards people, especially those that admire that which he had a part in creating; most actors in his position shun the fans still actively participating in stuff like this.
Leonard Nimoy has one of the coolest voices ever
up there with vincent price and morgan freeman i think
This is truly sad news. Nimoy has a done a lot of great things with his life and actively embraced the massive fandom that Star Trek has created over the years. While growing old (he's really over 80? Has it already been that long?) is a good reason to stop attending conventions, I really wanted to see him in person once. Eh, even so, I guess he really did live by that saying, "live long and prosper."
Because hes now lazy as fuck.
I mean, watch this shit.

Wacks off in the morning, dumps his cereal on his lawn, smokes a blunt.
Living the life.
:v: Jk, mad props to you Nemoy.
Obligatory live long and prosper Spock

He's 80 years old. He's tired period.
He is such an awesome guy, sad that I never got the chance to go to a convention to see him.
Also, follow him on twitter if you use it. http://twitter.com/#!/TheRealNimoy
This video... fucking awesome.
I don't even like Bruno Mars and I loved that video.
Man, a friend of mine was at that convention and they got to meet him. I was jealous of him then, and now that I know it's his last convention I'm more jealous.
I'll always remember him... as that murderer on Columbo.

He'll always be William Bell to me.
LLAP, Mr. Nimoy!
The man knew how to treat his fans. Amazing that he would consistently take time out of his life to do this, and for so long too.
I think he genuinely loved impersonating Spock through the series, or else he wouldn't have spent so much time going in these conventions or wouldn't have accepted to do that cameo in the recent reboot.
He will be missed.
I remember watching some documentary I guess and they said they would have never expected the kinda fandom the Star Trek series would create.
So, a lot of money for them.
He will die in several years :c
The same great man who did the voicing for the Dreamcast game Seaman.
Of course.
It feels like I've missed out on something.
Article made me think he was dead for a second.
He will die in several years :c
so will you
Whenever I read a book and their's a character who's a doctor or scientist who's explaining something, I read it in Nimoy's voice.
He's 80 years old. He's tired period.
No, It's because
It's been a long time; Getting from there to here; It's been a long time; but that time is finally here
