• Lucha Wrestler Perro Agulair Jr. passes away after in-ring injury
Aguayo Jr., who was 35, teamed with TNA’s Manik against TNA's Tigre Uno and ex-WWE Superstar Rey Mysterio on Friday night. As of now, it's believed that Aguayo Jr.'s death was caused by cervical spine trauma suffered when Mysterio dropkicked him into the ring ropes - a set up spot for Mysterio's signature "619" move. Aguayo Jr. hit the ropes improperly and was immediately rendered unconscious. Video of the incident. This is so sad. I just started watching AAA and he was one of my absolute favorites. Just goes to show how dangerous pro wrestling can be at times. Even something as simple as a dropkick can result in serious injury or death. I also hope Mysterio doesn't feel guilty for this. It was a freak accident.

Do people get knocked out like that frequently in it? It just seems odd how long he's left there dying before someone realized the danger he was in.
You're trained to act like it's part of the show, even if it isn't, especially if you're a luchadore. He's gonna be missed pretty bad, he was one of the best they had.
He didn't even get killed taking a dangerous move, it was either the routine dropkick or landing against the ropes that did him in. Such a fucking bummer. It sucks even more because was THE top heel, and with the reason spate of bad luck AAA has run into recently (they had really bad bus crash a few days ago that had some fatalities) and now this I'm not sure how they're going to pull it all together for Triplemania.
video of the kick:
Don't watch that video. It's graphic and horrible. I feel bad having to bump this to say that. It's really the sort of thing that will haunt you. This is terrible, though. Poor guy. Reminds me of when I saw Owen Hart kick it. Reminds you of the things these guys put themselves through in the name of entertainment.
Just watched that video and damn, fine one second and just dead and limp in another. Gone.
Man, shocking to see that happen. Especially on such a routine move.
Rey must be feeling awful after this People can survive getting all their limbs torn off but one kick and you're dead
i hope Rey Mysterio isn't charged with murder or involuntary manslaughter. i don't know if wrestlers are protected legally from accidentally killing one another or not, but if it was the signature 619 move gone wrong it's really sad that it ended with Aguayo's death, and if Rey goes to jail for it then it'd be even more unfortunate. :(

Edit: after watching the video and looking at the reddit thread I have to say its sad that konan, another bit more well known wrestler and a guy who is like a father to a lot of the guys and was basically a father to Perro Aguayo, was the first one to notice something was wrong and also sad that he shook the shit out of him.
i dont get it, is it because he hit the ropes improperly that he got the injury, or the actual dropkick itself? I have seen WAY worse things happen in wrestling and they were hurt but it didn't kill them. I have heard stories of the ropes being too tight before and it hurting wrestlers in one way or another, not sure if thats the case here.
at least he died doing what he loved. [editline]22nd March 2015[/editline] 35 is insanely young though, at least 30-40 years too early

It happens all the time in sports, happened in cricket last year when Philip Hughes died when a bowler struck him with a ball just below his ear, he died on the field but the bowler was dismissed of all charges almost immediately It'd be insane for someone to make a case against him, he has to live with the guilt for the rest of his life

I don't think it was a very good idea to shake his head around to see if he was ok.
I don't think it was a very good idea to shake his head around to see if he was ok.
his spine got twisted apparently, he was sadly gone the moment he fell limp.
This is fucking terrible. I don't really want to watch the video of him dying, but in-ring deaths are really un-common, it's weird to think it can still happen in a promotion based in 2015.
Waivers are signed before every match.
Waivers cannot affect your criminal liability. But considering the sport, there is no chance of any sort of homicide charge.
God damn I guess the show must go on. They are flying through and around the ropes all around him. One guy even checks on him then goes back to fighting.
