Less than a month away, people are fidgeting around waiting for any new information about what Minecraft will grant the Xbox 360 world. What’s going to be different from Xbox to PC? Will it have good online support? How will the multiplayer aspects work? Well, there are quite a few things revealed from the great people over at PAX to which you should pay close attention to. Here goes!

Minecraft is a complex, imaginative creation tool for the gaming universe. Because of its complexity, things can get sort of complicated when you first start out; that’s where the Xbox Edition comes in. For one, a “Wiki-style” guide in showing you how to build things within the game will be immediately available to you the moment you boot up the game, which will be extremely helpful to any new Minecraft player, or even those migrating over from the PC. Instead of trying to figure out what goes with what to make something, the game will “remind” you of what you currently have and what else is needed before the crafting is complete. Not only that, but it will separate items into specific catagories, such as “Home” or “Tools”, which will help you organize your crafting choices more easily (a huge help for us non-PC folk). If you have the necessary items all ready to go, the game will automatically craft them for you and place them in your inventory. Pretty handy features, right? Even if you’ve played the game on the PC or iPhone before, it might be wise to go through the tutorial on theMinecraft: Xbox 360 Edition first, as it has been tailored to a more first-person shooter style. As developer Notch stated, “The Xbox version is more focused on arcade-y gameplay and doing things slightly faster”. So far, it seems they’ve achieved their goal. A tutorial will help a player survive the first night of the game, giving you a feel on what you’ll be in store for.

But what practically everyone is dying to know about are the much anticipated multiplayer aspects of this game.As previously covered, the game will host 4 play split-screen co-op on one TV, but if you’re feeling quite social, you’ll be able to connect with up to eight players online in a single world server. The catch, however, is that everyone who’s in your world MUST be on your Xbox Live Friend List. Why? Well, for a very good reason. This is part of Notch’s attempt at trying to reduce the amount of griefing which is most likely bound to happen soon after release. Without this, it would be pretty easy to do considerable amount of damage to a player’s structures and leave without any repercussions. That being said: be sure to choose your Minecraft buddies carefully! This version of Minecraft will be released in an older patch than the one on PC. However, major updates will be released frequently, with the intention of keeping the Xbox version as close as possible to the current PC patch. Kinect support will also be coming in a future update, which sounds pretty intriguing if you would like a bit of a workout with all that mining and crafting you’ll be doing. If you haven't been looking forward to this game's release since its announcement, hopefully this little bit of news changed your mind. Because come May 9[SUP]th[/SUP], we will have one of the most innovative games on our consoles that only Minecraft can bring us.
Source: http://www.co-optimus.com/article/8066/pax-east-hits-us-some-more-minecraft-xbox-360-edition-knowledge.html
Minecraft on the Xbox actually looks kinda neat. I might get it so I can play splitscreen with my nephews and younger cousins.
Sounds... interesting...
Minecraft on the Xbox actually looks kinda neat. Not like I'd make it a complete replacement though, after all, MCXBLA isn't moddable (Atleast as of release, it's been hinted mod support is a future possibility) and doesn't have access to all the dedicated servers and their things that I can get on PC.
hopefully the multiplayer will actually fucking work now instead of 10% of the time
MC xbox doesn't look half bad
Sold on the 4 player split screen, might actually end up getting this...
EXCLUSIVE MINECRAFT 360 KNOWLEDGE: IT'S GOT BLOCKS Honestly though, it looks like it's coming along nicely. But what's with that one guy dressed as a tennis player...?
EXCLUSIVE MINECRAFT 360 KNOWLEDGE: IT'S GOT BLOCKS Honestly though, it looks like it's coming along nicely. But what's with that one guy dressed as a tennis player...?
Minecraft XBLA supports custom skins. For free, no DLC buying. Be glad this is in MS' hands and not EA's.
-snip, question answered-
wow they've got a built in crafting book? that ruins the fun for them kinda
wow they've got a built in crafting book? that ruins the fun for them kinda
There are plenty of Minecraft mods that add a craftbook item. Most of us don't like to hunt down what the correct placement of items is to make an item. This puts it in without mods and not taking up an inventory slot.
One of the main things that keeps minecraft alive today is mods, this probably won't last too long.
One of the main things that keeps minecraft alive today is mods, this probably won't last too long.
Mod support (In some form) has been hinted at quite a few times as a very possible post-launch update feature. And I'm pretty sure this will last a long time even without mods. The PC version is mostly played without mods and people stay, and knowing what I know off the street, the kiddies that are addicted to Minecraft on PC will probably flock to the XBLA version if their PCs are not great for Minecraft. One of my IRL friends is outright planning on ditching PC Minecraft due to the fact his present PC gets too many framerate hickups beyond enjoyment, and I bet many more may be too.
Minecraft isn't some kind of bane on society guys. The split screen can be fun because I have younger siblings. It seems pretty smooth, I'll probably get it if it's cheap.

Otherwise I'd suggest to anyone who hasn't got MC already, pick one or the other unless you plan on spending $40/30€ on Minecraft total.
I'll probably buy this. I have a younger brother (who is possibly autistic? This may or may not be an offensive joke.) And he'll probably love playing splitscreen with me. I know he's played Minecraft before, but it'll be fun if we can play together. I like the idea of having a game I can play with younger siblings that isn't like... more towards my interests, you know? Not really slaughter or dying wastelands... happy little trees.
I can finally play minecraft with my girlfriend! [editline]16th April 2012[/editline]
One of the main things that keeps minecraft alive today is mods, this probably won't last too long.
I've never modded my minecraft and don't ever plan to tbh... For some reason I just don't like mods unless they're graphic enhancers.
I can finally play minecraft with my girlfriend!
You don't need to make up an excuse to buy it
You don't need to make up an excuse to buy it
she doesn't like pc controls and I've owned minecraft since day one when creative was all there was.
I'll probably get this simply because of the multiplayer. Friends coming over for a weekend and having a three day long build/exploration party in front of a giant tv. Now they either play it on their crappy PCs or come over and play it on my medium level laptop.
That ingame crafting list looks super useful, and frankly, it should've been in the PC version ages ago. Alt-tabbing to the wiki to look up a crafting recipe is annoying as shit.
Sold on Splitscreen, be great to play this with my younger cousin. He plays the free version on the Minecraft site relentlessly.
Split-screen multiplayer AND no worry about griefing? Sold. Instantly sold.
My friend was telling me he was gonna get this, wait til he hears there is split screen.
The major selling point for me is that I can do proper Drop-In Drop-Out coop without having to run MC Dedicated server and deal with the variables created by it's messiness.
