I recently assembled a computer, and everything else is working fine except the front panel audio jacks.
The case model is unknown to me, it's recycled from a few years back. The motherboard is an ASUS P8Z77-V LX. The audio cables have 7 labeled pins, not grouped into one connector:
M IN
M BIAS
SPK L + SPK L
SPK R + SPK R
GND
The extra SPKs are "slaved" to the other SPKs, similarly to those old ATA connectors.
Apart from the extra SPKs it seems like AC'97 to me so I switched the BIOS to AC'97 mode and connected the pins in the order the motherboard's manual describes, leaving the extra SPKs unconnected (I tried both with leaving the "master" and the "slave" unconnected).
Windows didn't recognize devices plugged into the front panel. Any ideas what to do?
