President Barack Obama says U.S. intelligence assessments show Iran is still "a year or more away" from building a nuclear weapon.
The president's assessment puts him at odds with Israel, which says Iran is just months away from being able to build a bomb.

Obama, in an interview with The Associated Press, acknowledged that Americans estimates are "more conservative" than those of the Israelis.
Obama also says the world must "test" whether Iranian President Hassan Rouhani (hah-SAHN' roh-HAH'-nee) is serious about resolving its nuclear dispute diplomatically. But he says the U.S. won't take a "bad deal" from Iran.
Israel has dismissed Iran's outreach to the U.S.

Obama says that if he were Israel's leader, he'd be "be very wary as well of any kind of talk from the Iranians."
Ah, the "year or more away" mantra

Weren't they "A Year a way" last year?
Yes but now it's "year away or more..."
Yes but now it's "year away or more..."
Ahh that clears it up
Who cares if Iran has a nuclear bomb? As long as they use it for deterrence purposes (Looking at you, Israel), I see no reason why the US should be the huge hypocritical dick it's being with middle eastern states.
We should be disarming both Israel and Iran of these bombs.
We should make a nuke, I mean seriously all the cool kids have a few of them.
Shit even Kimmy Un has one. Step it up facepunch!
Obama is still an inch away from "total bullshit."
We should be disarming both Israel and Iran of these bombs.
Rather difficult when Israel, officially, doesn't have any nor is a signer of any laws about them.
if iran did have a nuke program, id imagine it being like this.

Iran having a nuclear bomb creates problems for international law because it's a violation of the NPT, and if it's not enforced then it makes the UN out as a powerless shell and international law as meaningless. I mean, what's more of an issue that the UN should get involved in than the spread of the most destructive thing on the planet?
On the other hand, Iran having a nuke is only fair and to be honest no one should give a fuck. Iran should just withdraw from the NPT and tah dah. The only reason this is a problem is because Israel has nukes and they don't want their political enemies having them. Israel hasn't even signed the damned NPT.
I remember the good old days of the 90s. Back then, Iran was a year away from Nuclear bombs as well.
The phrase...
"Still a year or more away from nuke". Still. A year or more. STILL.
It sounds just like it is in reality, Iran "is a year or more away from nuke" for awhile now, for more than a decade.
Someone summed the situation up with quotes and sources in another thread, going back to the 90s were Iran was just a year away. Cant find it anymore, anyone got it?
Interesting, the world doesn't pay any attention to North Korea and their warmongering and hysteria, but everyone is straight on their feet once Israel calls out.
I wonder, I've never heard of North Korean bankers, major public organisations and lobby, may it be somehow connected, uh?
Israel is the only country they would attack anyways and I say good riddance.

Yeah fuck all those people who live there. They're evil.
Yeah fuck all those people who live there. They're evil.
We say that about all the innocent people in the middle east that have been killed by our weapons bro. Predator missile kills a whole family just to get one guy that hates us for killing his family via predator missile. Come down from that high horse.
Israel is the only country they would attack anyways and I say good riddance.
Right, along with all the innocents there.

What about Japan? We killed a shit ton of innocents did we not? And nobody bats an eye.
"We can have nuclear weapons but you people can't."
the US doesn't give a shit about nuclear proliferation lol, if they did, they would faaaaar more worried about pakistan, which is nearly a failed state.

Context.
You can't compare Israel and its neighboring countries to the pacific campaign.
Please return to popular opinion and compare Israel to the Third Reich.

The atomic bombing of Japan was terrible. We should have never picked a civilian target. However, an invasion of the Japanese mainland would have been a disaster, not only to the US Army, but to the Japanese people too.
When the United States liberated islands from the Empire, Japanese colonists would often kill themselves by jumping off cliffs or charging at American infantrymen. Imagine that on a national scale.

They take Palestinian land and build houses on it. Kinda sounds like the third Reich to me... They also kill children and women just for being Palestinians. Also I'm using japan as an example of nuking innocents.

Would have saved us some bullets lol

America killing innocents doesn't justify someone else doing so as well.
