The father of actor Paul Walker is also filing a wrongful death lawsuit against Porsche, almost exactly two years after his son was killed in a fiery Carrera GT crash in California.
USA Today reports that Walker’s father, Paul William Walker III, filed the lawsuit on Wednesday. He joins the deceased actor’s daughter Meadow Walker in filing a wrongful death claim against the automaker.
The newspaper says the senior Walker’s lawsuit claims the supercar “lacked safety features that could have saved the actor’s life.” His lawsuit seeks unspecified damages.
Jesus fucking christ... what ever happened to "personal responsibility"?
He was your son, he fucked up and there's no one else to blame, but *him*. Please let it go.

What about the guy who was driving said automobile?
This is why he fucked up (taken from Jalopnik). No amount of traction control in the world can replace proper maintenance.
It wasn't *his* car. He was only a passenger.
“lacked safety features that could have saved the actor’s life ... which include lack of a crash cage, a failure in the car’s suspension, and a lack of safety features in the gas tank"
This is a JOKE. You know what would have saved his life? A competent driver. Not a roll cage, not fire extinguishers, not a safety feature in the gas tank.
If things like this keep getting pushed through, expect your vehicle to cost a lot more to buy and maintain. The aviation industry is a shining example on how lawsuits can skew prices.

And not hooning a 600hp car on old-ass tires.

Sounds like they ought to be suing their family as well, from the look of things.
And the gardener who planted that tree on the sidewalk.
Lacked safety features like a roll cage? What kinda car that's not a track day specific car comes with a freaking roll cage?
And when you buy a car with certain characteristics, you're buying it out of your own accord. You don't buy a car without airbags knowing fully well that it doesn't have airbags, and then try and sue the car company when you get a pretty serious head injury from hitting your head against the wheel. You chose the damn thing.
There's nobody appropriate to sue. The driver of the Porsche died too. It sucks that Paul died, it does, but don't blame fucking Porsche.
Its people like this that ruin things for the rest of us.
What about the guy who was driving said automobile?
He died too though
this lawsuit is so ridiculous. it isn't going to bring him back and it won't hurt porsche so what will this accomplish other than making his dad a lot of money?
90% sure most lawsuits like this come not as a result of selfish parents looking for whatever money they can get but selfish lawyers goading those parents into pursuing legal action with the promise of big bucks.

9 YEARS?!
What a fucking dumb death!
9 YEARS?!

Those tires were probably as old as the car itself, so yea.
I insist, it was a terrible tragedy -- one that could have been prevented... that's all there is to say about it. As stated earlier, big wads of money aren't going to bring him back so at this point, it's just better to focus on overcoming his loss.

So the lawyers are just predating on the greed of selfish parents? You're still painting them as greedy and I'd say in this case he is.
If this wins then I'm going to sue my local hospital for not being able to treat my grandmother's cancer
The loss of family has a powerful impact on everyone, like another poster said above I know this isn't just the sole decision of his father and I am sure there is some legal and personal poking to convince him to go this route. I can say first hand that the loss of a loved one can coax some of the darkest feelings out of people and there is always that pursuit of justice even if you know who was at fault and why. When you combine those emotions with the persuasion from lawyers and probably family and friends it is easy to make greedy decisions out of heart break and confusion. I look at his father and I see myself when I had to deal with a hard loss. It has been hard for him to let the fact sink in that his son is gone as you can see in the video below. This shouldn't be a news story in my opinion.

I see it as a combination of 2 things: blood-sucking lawyers wanting to make a profit off of a family who hasn't overcome their loss. If anything, I put the blame only on the lawyers for playing his father, still vulnerable and gullible, into suing Porsche.
Paul wouldn't of wanted this. I hope Paul III can learn to live with his son's death before he can tarnish his name. Revenge never helps or "quenches" anyone.
You know, it sucks losing someone that is apart of your family. Like your son, or father. But I hope these both go fucking bankrupt from long drawn out lawsuits that they'll lose because the manufacturer isn't the cause. And the walkers can then proceed to start suing everything else. Newton, because momentum is the real cause.
Michelin, for making tires not last 9 years.
Oil companies, for making gasoline that powered the vehicle.
The city, for having unsafe roads not designed for 80+mph driving.
The state, same as the aforementioned reason. And not enough regulations making sure that cars don't go past 60mph.
Just fucking sue everything down the line, til you're rolling in cash. Greedy pigs.

The key word is goad, when you badger someone enough with that position of authority (especially when your entire job is convincing people) they might start to feel differently.

*wouldn't have

The court will rule it wasn't Porsche's fault and the responsibility of the situation solely lies on Paul Walker's friend who repeatedly failed to maintain his car to an acceptable state (despite Porsche providing more than enough means to maintain the vehicle) and then failed to respect road rules that exist to ensure the safety of the driver and their passengers.
It's literally impossible for the guy to win that case because there is no correlation between the incident and the vehicle's manufacturer, since the vehicle malfunctioning due to a manufacturing issue was ruled out a long time ago during the initial investigation following the crash.

Let's be honest the guy's probably running short on money and just wants to try and get an easy paycheck. A portion of these ridiculous lawsuits are solved outside of court in an agreement between the company and whoever put up the lawsuit, because it's safer for the company to settle it that way and avoid any possibility of the lawsuit going bad for them.
