I might find use for it in music production and music production only. Is it worth keeping? I've never been a big fan of Macs. Looking for feedback for people who use both a Windows desktop and a Mac and if there is any utility in using both.
I've heard they're worth keeping for producing, although not the best type of computer, the macbook series is apparently great for processing audio, and you'll rarely get a CPU spike during producing, so I'd keep it, if I were you.
Or y'know, give it to me :v:
Not really worth it no, the built in DSP/Headphone amp is ok but why would you not use a real interface if you are making ♪.
Want to use Logic or an Apogee?
No?
Then you do not need a Mac. Put it towards gear.

i own a macbook and it runs out of memory within seconds if you have like 4 synths, so unless it has 8-16mb ram it won't be great fun making music
if it were a macbook pro it'd be worth keeping, probably still worth keeping as a macbook. If it's got good enough specs, then keep it and use it, macs are great for music production.
Loads of people use them with production though getting an imac/powermac is obviously better. Better pro tools support on mac as well, and most studios use macs, not PCs. but you don't need it.
The only bonus is if you like using logic. It's pretty cool for multitrack recording but it's nothing special really.
Well, if you ever want to get into DJing, keep it.

This, for 150$ you get a complete DAW with VST support and compatibility with most of the gear on the market right now.

There's nothing wrong with it - you're right. I'm just not personally a fan of it when I'm not working with live audio.

An 8gb ram upgrade is only a small cost and totally worth it imo. It's pretty easy to install too, especially if you have built a computer before.
I got a Macbook Pro and I'm pretty happy with it. I'm still pretty ashamed though.
If you're selling it cheap, send me a PM :v:

you mean AU
But Logic's advantage is that all the inhouse tools you get with it are pretty impressive. The sampler is great and easy to use as are the reverbs, delays, etc. The EQs aren't too crash hot, but you shouldn't have to use EQs that much in the first place if you're recording correctly.
As for EDM it does lack a few things, but with the hyper editor and a few other useful tools its quite functional. Automation is a treat in it as well, very easy to use.
i'm using both mac and windows, and i think that mac is good for editing videos or for photoshop or something, but windows is better for games
