• GFX Melted, Need help

Okay so my Graphics card's fan has seized up and melted my GFX. I know little about computers and how they work, so I need to ask a few questions: - What is the most likely cause for this to happen? The case was pretty cramped with two fans blowing into each other and I'm worried about it happening again if I buy a new one and the circulation isn't up to speed. - Should I invest in a new case or was it just a faulty card? Also, I need to buy a new one. Looking for a good gaming card, my specs that I can remember are (bear in mind I don't have access to the computer at the moment): - AMD Phenom Quadcore 9500 - 4gb Ram - Corsair HX620W PSU - 32bit Vista OS I'm considering getting an ATI HD4850 or something along that price range. I want something that can run games like Skyrim, Battlefield 3, the Witcher II, Minecraft with good performance and good quality. Any suggestions?
4850 will be a little weak for BF3 (depending on your resolution, but for that matter, so is your CPU). Blow out the fan with an air compressor or similar. [editline]8th July 2011[/editline] As for a card, since they don't sell 4850s new, I don't know what "or similar price range" would mean, 5830s are $110 however..
My resolution is 1440x900, I probably won't be playing on max settings or anything - just something that looks decent and plays well. I'd like to not have to bother investing in a new CPU though. Turns out the HIS line of 4870's that I got had a load of problems with faulty fans and melting graphics cards. Also shit, typo. Meant 5850, sorry.
How much would you be getting the 5850 for?
Australia sells the average Sapphire 1gb 5850 for $160-170 AUS, but I don't know the average price for them www.shopbot.com.au scans the cheapest online prices in AUS, So at maximum of $200 AUS what is the most suitable card for me to get?
6870
Will do, thanks. Turns out I have to foot $150 for a GT430 because mum got scammed by an asshole. So it might be a while.
Ouch... Actually, can't you just go back to the store where said asshole works and demand a refund? Or did she buy it reburnished?
