• Novation launchpad or a synth?

I've been wanting to join a band for a while now but i also want to carry on with my music making project with my friend. I'm going to get a microphone with both so i can record my voice too. But the thing is that if i get a synth the upsides are - Can use in a band and in my project - Quite easy to lean - Doesn't require a computer the down sides are that - They are expensive then i could be really cool and get a launch pad, again the upsides are - Be able to make sick drum beats and master sounds on demand while playing live - its cheap around £150 and the down sides are - Hard to learn since i don't use ableton live that much but i could learn it - Not to sure if i could use it in a band. If you don't know what the ableton live launchpad is here it is Just looking for some second opinions and insight
Launchpad and Live will sound horrible when you're playing with a band live if you're not careful I'd go with a synth, don't let all of Live's bells and whistles distract you
