Its always good to see a new Brote Ampill video.
They never expect the Dad-pocalypse
The way this game handles weapon/vehicle DLC pretty annoying IMO
Near 20$ for a fucking helicopter?
What.
That DLC pop-up feels like something you'd see in a satire of DLCs in games.
Don't worry, the 20 dollar DLC for some guns, 3 helicopters, and go-karts (all separate) clearly has gone into the development of the game, especially the animations of actions and hit-reactions.
then dont buy it, its not like you have to buy the dlc to use the new features they implement which is the main feature

I bought the game, I expect access to all content in it. Just last night I picked up a gun from a dead guy, only to find out that I can't use it.
Is this the direction you wan't game developers to take? I'd expect this kind of shit from some play4free games, but not ARMA 3, which is currently priced at 45€

I don't think people understand that the DLCs also came with a whole bunch of really good platform updates, like firing from vehicles and bipods. In this format, the DLCs are to finance those features that benefit the entirety of the community and are available to everyone, with those who want to support the game and the devs gaining access to some quite niche and rarely useful assets.
Is it a good game overall? I love realism tactical stuff like Insurgency and I'm not really sure what Arma 3 is about, or if it's even worth 60$.

It's a military sandbox, it's whatever you make it to be honest.

If you play shit missions like wasteland, expect bad fps and a worse experience
If you play with a community (which is what the game is mostly intended for), then expect anything from small-scale firefights to company-level combined arms missions with multiple assets
I would say it's a good game, but then I'm a mod for facepunch's ARMA 3 community so I'm probably a little biased :V

Also what Tomoe said, the mission editor is ridiculously versatile and the game has a powerful script system that allows you to do pretty much anything
This is what vanilla Arma 3 multiplayer looks like? Looks horrible.
the way arma plays depends on the mission/mod, i just play battle royale now but i used to play in organised tactical events, for a mode you can just jump into king of the hill is probably best its a online mode with character progression and objectives but doesnt require mods

If you have anything less than a NASA super computer its going to run like total shit. I bought it but it's to the point of being unplayable due to performance.

Not really, Bohemia managed to increase the performance greatly over the course of about a year and a half due to patches, and like I said, if you play a bad mission like wasteland, you're going to get really bad performance, these missions really don't tend to be properly optimised
if you turn the settings too low it increases the load on the cpu and most performance issues are due to badly scripted missions, start out with one of the firing drills and find the best settings there

Well that certainly is a PR-friendly way of looking at it. My main problem was with the way it's implemented, effectively pissing over the vanilla game with restricted content.
Gotta give credit to BI though, for having a community loyal enough to let them get away with it.

I used to think this until I played on a CHIMERA server ran by that BI guy and FPer Dwarden. Performance was pretty much equally bad.
Alright, then does it ever go on sale? Before xmas at least.
Ranting aside this is something I'm looking forward to. Development team is pretty much professional with a guy who modelled for Halo and AFAIK also some help from BI

"I bought the game, I expect access to all content in it"
do you use the same logic on triple a fps titles? also i guarantee noone bought the arma dlc for the content with the mod community that exist for the game
So you know Circumsoldier (the guy with the outrageously fake Russian accent)? He has a youtube channel full of what the fuck

that still doesnt mean they were running good missions, try an Alive mission it uses modules instead of scripts and has almost no performance impact even with a lot of ai

Well I kind of expected them to be running good missions considering theyre official servers listed on the ARMA website. Thanks for the tip, though. I understand that a hardcore ARMA community exists here at FP and I'm by no means trying to stir a shitstorm.
LOL the Dadmobile

...yes?
I buy expansion packs, the only time I buy DLC is if it's included in a GOTY edition or something.
If they want to keep that stuff in the game but retain the DLC, do it in a less stupid manner. Make it so you can use the weapons and such if you loot them, but cannot respawn with them or something along those lines.
Seeing "AVAILABLE WITH PURCHASE OF [DLC]" in a the middle of gamplay in a game you paid $40 to $60 for is awful and makes it look like those terrible "free to play" mobile games.

So they managed to increase it near 30? Multiplayer, in my experience, in general has ran like total shit. Single player does as well but not as bad.

it only does that if the mission has content from a DLC and you try to interact with it. personally, i haven't seen one of those popups in a year
it's like how KF did DLC's, and it still allows people without the DLC to play
in arma2 you would have the content with really low-res textures if you didn't own the DLC. this is just a different approach

i get 50-60 online with ultra 1440p
seems like circumsoldier is slowly losing his ability to speak as the days go by
