Why Facepunch sections are now not viewable for guests?

That what I see when I visit Facepunch as simple guest right now:

Is this normal?
compwhissi pooped on the keyboard again
I, for one, approve of this
Man this is going to be a little annoying.
I usually go on as guest, check threads and if i want to post i'll log in.
the jello on his head fell off and hit the button that makes the forums not viewable for guests.
Yeah just noticed this, probably temporary. Atleast I got one of my friends to register on Facepunch.
Why does News Node not show up as private? That seems kinda odd.
I think it's time to call in 4chan......

Haha, this sure is working.
It's due to the Righthaven lawsuit.
I'm guessing it's because of the righthaven stuff.
Ninjad.

I do not know much about American news, but someone could explain to me what is this law?

it can be summed up in "hurr durr you are using our content we want money for it hurr derp"
A little more detail?
A little more detail?
RightHaven filed a lawsuit against Garry for users taking content of RightHaven's articles to post In the News.
RightHaven has a history of doing so for cash. They are notable for buying the rights for an article that another website copied (For example, they see X Article here copied from another news article, RightHaven buys the rights to that article then sues FP), then suing them. By using a loophole, they only file lawsuits against websites that do not have a registered DMCA agent, meaning they can file the lawsuit immediately rather then e-mailing the webmaster a DMCA notice giving them a chance to take it down and preventing the lawsuit.

I have this on all sites but facepunch.
Wait, why are you doing this, Comp? Is it so they can't see what we're doing?

How is that legal?

The gubmint really doesn't give two shits about actual fair use of articles and such, so they do nothing about it.
This sucks, now I HAVE to log in every time I wanna use FP at school.

One question: Even though the forums appear "private", if you google a particular thread you can probably access it, through the Google Bot... have you thought of a way around that??

I just tried this, you can.
All you need to do is google "facepunch thread" or similar.

Can fast threads be un-hidden? I prefer to not have everyone knowing what threads I look at in FT.
Nevermind, I still have an alt.
Wouldn't it be smarter to just make In the news private?
Good bye incognito mode.

Yeah I know... I heard of forums blocking Googlebot, so that threads belonging to that forum won't show up on Google Results and even if they do show up, they can't be accessed through the Googlebot...
That's why I'm asking if Compwhizzizzizzizz thought about it before
Great, now people will know I've been in the gay furry porn thread.
