Employees at a car dealership in La Crescenta found what looked like a hand grenade in a vehicle Wednesday afternoon, according to Glendale police. The bomb squad arrived at Bob Smith Toyota in at 3333 Foothill Blvd. a little over an hour after the device was reported around 4:30 p.m. The vehicle had been traded in and was being refurbished for resale when workers discovered the device and called Glendale police, who confirmed that it did that the object did look like a hand grenade. Officers have not yet identified which car in the lot is the vehicle in question. Refresh this page for updates on the developing story.
And I live a block away from this place. There are three helicopters out there right now; all three of them may be just from the news.
How the hell do you disarm a hand grenade?
By cutting the blue wire duhh..
How the hell do you disarm a hand grenade?
What do you think?
Better safe than sorry. Could be worse. Could be C4
How the hell do you disarm a hand grenade?
Unscrew the fuze assembly from the body (someone correct me if I'm wrong). Then you've basically got a pull-fuze firecracker and a container of explosives.
Better safe than sorry. Could be worse. Could be C4
Not really at all, considering C4 is actually incredibly stable and US hand grenades contain TNT, which is much more volatile than C4 and already has a detonation method in it.
I told that stupid goddamn brother of mine to check the car before we dropped it off at the dealership. Probably left my GPS in there too.
How the hell do you disarm a hand grenade?
Take it's arms off.
I would have shit my pants if i saw that in a car that i was about to buy.
How the hell do you disarm a hand grenade?
unscrew the fuse and drain the comp.b. the fuse is such a low explosive it's not going to hurt anything, and the comp.b is pretty easy to dispose of. [editline]7th March 2012[/editline]
I would have shit my pants if i saw that in a car that i was about to buy.
I would have kept the thing and blown it up out in a field. called all my friends over for the show ("hey man I got an Mk 2 wanna blow some shit up?" who wouldn't accept an invitation like that?), bring tons of alcohol, a grill, some hamburger meat. Everyone will bring their rifles and we'll fuck some shit up. man it feels good to be american.
Better safe than sorry. Could be worse. Could be C4
Could be worse, the car could be haunted.
How the hell do you disarm a hand grenade?
Probably put it in one of these and blow it up. [t]http://mvlife.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/bomb-squad.jpg[/t]
How the hell do you disarm a hand grenade?
Hit it with a hammer
ITT: Bomb experts.
Probably put it in one of these and blow it up. [t]http://mvlife.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/bomb-squad.jpg[/t]
That looks awesome.
I remember one of my fellow techs finding a loaded handgun and two magazines in the glovebox of a customer's car a couple years ago. The customer brought it in for a cabin air filter, which is behind the glovebox. Guess he forgot about it.
You know you could just pick it up as long as it has both safeties still on it.
You know you could just pick it up as long as it has both safeties still on it.
If there grenade went off and hurt someone (civilian/police) there would be way too much backlash.
Probably put it in one of these and blow it up. [t]http://mvlife.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/bomb-squad.jpg[/t]
What is this thing called, I wish to research the science!
Probably put it in one of these and blow it up. [t]http://mvlife.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/bomb-squad.jpg[/t]
These actually exist?! I thought that scene from Monster's Inc. was just made up. Interesting.
A better bang for a buck as they say.
Better safe than sorry. Could be worse. Could be C4
That would be better.
What an explosive deal!
be lucky it's not an old cluster bomblet or other dud those things are EVEN MORE VOLATILE :v: "hey dude why do you have an old, armed, RPG warhead in your car" "oh, terrorists attacked and it was a dud"
Every car now comes with a free hand grenade! Offer valid for a limited time only!
so was it confirmed that it was an actual grenade? the article really only said " an object that did look like a hand grenade was found"
Betcha it was one of those dummy grenade novelties. There is no fuze in the handle, and the bottom of the grenade is drilled out and empty.
What an explosive deal!
The prices are blowing through the roof!
The prices are blowing through the roof!
Some people complained of fragments in their deals though.
