Man Fired From Cushy Job For Yelling "Fuck her right in the pussy" At Reporter
A Hydro One employee will be fired after he was identified as one of the men who CityNews reporter Shauna Hunt confronted about the vulgar ‘FHRITP’ trend during Sunday’s Toronto FC game.
Hydro One issued a statement late Tuesday saying it was terminating the employee in connection with the incident, which was captured on video.

This guy made the Sunshine List last year, meaning he made over $100k, and he got canned for being a fuckmuppet. He and 3 others are also now permanently banned from basically all Toronto sports games.
When I was a security guard one of the regular FedEx drivers would say this as he passed through for identification.
Means you can say it with your friends doesn't mean you can say it in public!
"Eff her right in the pee"
How stupid do you need to be to harass someone in front of a camera that is currently broadcasting nationwide?
-snip-
Still continuing that trend? We all already know it's staged.
The video that started the trend was staged. The trend is real and stupid.
Kind of ridiculous that the guy lost his job for saying something dumb. I mean if that were a consistant rule nearly none of us should have jobs right now. I feel for the reporter and I'm glad she stood up to him. I'm glad this guy looks like a fool. I'm not terribly concerned that he is banned from Toronto sports games (though a life ban seems excessive).
But losing his job? That doesn't feel right to me. Also, nearly every local radio and tv station here is trying very hard to start a witch hunt, but to my surprise people largely seem to agree that losing his job was too much.

doing dumb shit in front of news cameras is a time honored tradition
not like half of them are broadcasting anything worth a damn anyway

There's a difference between saying something stupid in private (or accidentally in public) and reveling in your own stupidity by screaming something stupid directly at a television camera in order to act like a big man.
I would wager this would be worthy of reprimand, but a ban for life on all sports games and a loss of his job? That quite excessive for just a stupid quote.
Did he threaten A sports team with death or posed a thread to entire crowd of Canadians with that quote? No, not really. At best it feeds more onto the growing witch hunt for these assholes, but does that quote really deem threatening to anyone at all to be ban worthy?
And his firing, well at best the stupid quote should've gotten him a slap on the wrist and a good talking down to. But why fired, is this company that anal a out its PR so much that it's willing to fire anyone for a minor offense??

It's not a question of whether or not it was a stupid decision, it's whether or not employers should be able to terminate you for something that has nothing to do with your work. I don't like the idea that your personal life is inextricably linked to your business persona. I suppose if he were in a PR-related position I could understand, but if he's just some guy doing his job at a company, I think letting his coworkers think he's an idiot is punishment enough.

The company probably just wants to save face because of the witch hunt that is no doubt ongoing. At some point he would probably be outed as an employee of the company and they're firing him to prevent the name association I guess. Either way I think it's a bit iffy, and I think the manhunt for these people is a bit silly.
Imagine thinking that was a good idea to say that on tv

Imagine using it as justification for a witch hunt
I like how people claim that he's being sexist, yet spare no effort to ruin this guy life.

Was there a witch hunt? It seems more like he got mad canned after he was recognized by someone at work
No one can say it as good as the original guy. His voice was perfect.

and they'll never be wearing such an iconic outfit

As someone who works in News, i can say the fallout of this is rather extreme. As sports / concerts + cameras = guaranteed streeter bombs (Newstalk for videobombing a live hit). The Camera op is expecting it, the control room is expecting it. The Reporter usually expects it.
But the fallout from this is got waaaay out of hand, mostly because she confronted him and he continued to act like a ditz. That's what got him fired. Not the Steeter bomb itself but the continued extreme disrespect. And some of our female reporters jumped on the bandwagon about it didnt exactly help
Well if anything, there's now a precedent for what happens if you're a complete dick on national TV. Maybe people will think twice about it now.

Are people really that offended by this? Like yeah it's stupid and childish but people are jumping onto this guy like he raped a reporter on live television. It is literally a harmless prank, maybe a stupid one, but a genuinely harmless and meaningless non-issue. What's the big deal? When this trend first showed up people on FP hailed it as a hilarious gag. Even the first few imposters were cheered on, now that it's become old hat everyone is pretending they actually care about the sanctity of live sports reporting.
Are people really that offended by this?
Yelling "fuck her right in the pussy" into a camera on a national TV newscast is absolutely going to offend people. Some will argue that it's a sexist remark and is disrespectful to women as well.
It really isn't surprising that this guy lost his job after this incident, because why would his employer (Hydro One is essentially the government of Ontario) want to be associated with a guy that made a complete ass of himself for the whole country to see?
This seems like an overreaction to an harmless, albeit stupid, joke.
"Hey guys, look at me doing stupid copycat shit in a pathetic attempt to get socially famous!"
Its probably less to do with punishing him and more to do with his employers worried about their own image. When something goes viral on the internet it is blown way out of proportion.
Watch the original clip and see how they act and respond to further questions, they're complete douches.

Don't worry, Hydro One doesn't have a good image of themselves already.
It is literally a harmless prank
I'm pretty sure interfering with someone trying to do their job has quantifiable financial harm
I'm pretty sure interfering with someone trying to do their job has quantifiable financial harm
quantify it then.
she pursued the comment not the other way around. If I call you a fucking idiot, walk off and you chase after me asking me to clarify my position, is that harassment on my part? Am I facilitating your loss of time/money or are you?
I'm pretty sure interfering with someone trying to do their job has quantifiable financial harm
Do they fire reporters for random acts of pranksters during live sports broadcasts or something? I don't really see the harm here.

Being offensive doesn't really make it harmful imo. Some people are offended by Muslims, some people are offended by thin people in magazines. It doesn't make either of those things harmful in their own right. Saying it's sexist and disrespectful, I disagree. I don't really want to get into some complex argue about microaggression and cultural sexism or whatever it would be that makes this sexist but either way, I'd have to disagree.
I don't feel bad for this guy.
